Job summary

Sr Primes Pune is seeking an NPD Engineer in Nagpur District to lead design and development of wiring harness products and optimize existing solutions. The role collaborates across functions to improve processes, reduce cycle times, and ensure quality and timely delivery.

The candidate will conceptualize, design, and test new products, manage documentation, and utilize CATIA, AutoCAD, and Creo while driving supplier coordination and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Additional certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage
• 4 to 8 years of hands‑on design experience in the wiring harness industry

Responsibilities

• Develop new technologies and optimize existing solutions to conceptualize, design, and test new products or product series
• Define problems, conduct focused research, analyze criteria, and identify effective solutions
• Execute wiring harness design with strong documentation control and sound decision‑making
• Use CAD/CAM software, with CATIA as a core design tool
• Drive cycle time reduction and process improvement through Cross-Functional Team (CFT) collaboration
• Prepare documentation, data analysis, and presentations using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Position Overview:

The NPD Engineer will lead the design and development of new wiring harness products and the optimization of existing solutions, aligned with the organization's business goals. The role involves conceptualizing, designing, and testing new products or product series, while working closely with cross-functional teams to improve process efficiency, reduce cycle time, and ensure quality and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new technologies and optimize existing solutions to conceptualize, design, and test new products or product series
• Define problems, conduct focused research, analyze criteria, and identify effective solutions
• Execute wiring harness design with strong documentation control and sound decision‑making
• Use CAD/CAM software, with CATIA as a core design tool
• Drive cycle time reduction and process improvement through Cross-Functional Team (CFT) collaboration

Skills Required:

• Basic knowledge of IATF 16949, 5S, Poka-Yoke, Kaizen, and PPAP documentation to maintain process and product quality standards
• Proficiency in handling engineering projects, including new machine development, productivity improvement of existing machines, and troubleshooting
• Ability to plan and strategize project execution with detailed tasks, timelines, and dependency mapping
• Strong coordination and vendor management skills for working with existing and new suppliers
• Working knowledge of BOP (Bought-Out Parts), component identification, source identification, and basic raw materials
• Good analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving ability, time management, computer proficiency, teamwork, and adaptability to change

Special Requirements:

• Mandatory Software Proficiency: Hands‑on expertise in CATIA, AutoCAD, Creo, is a must, along with strong CAD/CAM skills
• Hands on experience of SAP
• Product Design & Problem Solving: Ability to design, develop, and test new or improved products aligned with company goals, with strong skills in problem definition, research, and solution identification
