Job summary

Net Connect in India is seeking a senior firewall and network security engineer with at least 9 years of practical experience to lead enterprise security operations, drive policy enforcement, and ensure robust threat prevention across the WAN and data center.

You will design, implement, and review firewall rules, NAT, and zone-based policies; troubleshoot advanced issues; document changes meticulously; and coordinate with vendors such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Check Point to deliver seamless

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in firewall management and network security.
• Strong understanding of NAT, zones, and security policies.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls, preferably Palo Alto, and routing interactions with firewalls.
• Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP/OSPF) and switching technologies (STP/MLAG/VLANs).
• Datacenter networking concepts and WAN architecture, including SpineLeaf.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and thorough documentation skills.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors and stakeholders for operations.

Role & responsibilities

• Minimum of 9 years of experience in firewall management and network security.
• Strong understanding of firewall concepts, including NAT, zones, and security policies.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls, preferably Palo Alto, and a solid grasp of routing interactions with firewalls.
• Proficiency in routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, with a mandatory understanding of switching technologies like STP, MLAG, and VLANs.
• In-depth knowledge of datacenter networking concepts and WAN architecture, including SpineLeaf configurations.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex network issues and excellent documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and coordinate with vendors for seamless network operations.

Preferred candidate profile

• Conduct L3-level troubleshooting of firewall issues, including traffic drops, NAT complications, and asymmetric routing.
• Design, optimize, and review firewall policies to enhance network security and efficiency.
• Implement NAT, routing, and zone-based policies to ensure seamless network operations.
• Validate security posture and support audits to maintain compliance with industry standards.
• Provide PCR and CAB support for firewall changes, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Perform root cause analysis for security and network incidents, developing prevention strategies.
• Support firewall upgrades, migrations, and redesign projects, collaborating with OEMs like Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Check Point.
• Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for network transformation and migration projects, ensuring successful implementation.
