Job summary

BT International in Kolkata is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with deep expertise in SD-WAN operations (Velo Cloud, Fortinet, Cisco). You will act as an L3 escalation point for complex incidents, drive RCA, and implement permanent fixes while supporting modernization initiatives and service improvement.

The role requires 7–9 years of hands-on experience with LAN/WAN, BGP, MPLS, and IPsec, plus strong automation skills in Python/Ansible and familiarity with AI-driven observability.

Responsibilities

Currently we have a requirement for a Network Enginnering professional for Kolkata with experience on SDWAN Operations Support (Velo Cloud, Fortinet & Cisco)

Role Accountabilities:

• Act as the L3 technical escalation point for complex network incidents and major outages.
• Manage and improve service performance against contractual SLAs and operational KPIs (FCR, MTTR, CSAT/NPS).
• Perform advanced troubleshooting across SD-WAN, Routing & Switching, Cloud, and Security technologies.
• Drive Problem Management activities, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Implementation of permanent fixes.
• Support network transformation, service improvement, and technology modernization initiatives.
• Review, validate, and implement network designs, changes, and operational procedures.
• Identify and deliver automation opportunities using Python, Ansible, APIs, and AI-driven tools.
• Leverage AI and AIOps platforms to enhance operational efficiency, troubleshooting, and service insights.
• Mentor and coach engineers through technical training, knowledge sharing, and best-practice guidance.
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles to support operational excellence.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver successful outcomes.

• Velo Cloud, Fortinet (NSE4, 5 & 7), Cisco SDWAN Certifications Preferred

Skills/Experience:

• At least 7-9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong expertise in LAN/WAN technologies, including BGP, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, DMVPN, and IPsec.
• Strong operational and troubleshooting experience with Cisco (Viptela) SD-WAN.
• Experience in L3 troubleshooting, Major Incident Management, and Problem Management.
• Knowledge of Network Security, Firewalls, WLAN, and Cisco ISE.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Ability to design, implement, and support complex network solutions.
• Full level understanding of the BT products solutions to a solid ‘basic’ level (e.g. same as Sales roles) and in-depth BT's operational/service processes would be beneficial
• Ability to organize and attend on international conference call and discuss technical issues
• Proven ability to support and operate end-to-end customer network solutions.
• Exposure to network automation tools and scripting technologies such as Python, Ansible, APIs, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled operations, observability, and data-driven troubleshooting tools is desirable.
