Job Description:
The System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day reliability, security, and maintenance of the schools IT infrastructure, CCTV surveillance systems, and school-management software. The role ensures smooth technology operations across classrooms and offices, safeguards sensitive systems (including the server room and Cambridge examination areas), and provides timely technical support to staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CCTV & Surveillance
- Monitor all CCTV cameras daily to ensure they are live, correctly positioned, and recording without interruption, and sign the records.
- Rename, label, and organise CCTV camera feeds according to their physical location for quick identification during review or incident investigation.
- Coordinate camera repair, repositioning, or replacement with vendors when faults are identified.
2. I.C.T Maintenance & Management
- Diagnose and resolve issues relating to CCTV systems, desktops/laptops, interactive panels, printers, and network connectivity, and check warranty status before initiating any repair, replacement, or vendor service request.
- Maintain an up-to-date IT asset inventory, including unique asset IDs, allocation, location, physical condition, and operational status of all IT equipment.
- Manage IT asset allocation and access for new joiners, including device issuance, account creation, and configuration, and ensure proper asset return and handover during employee exits
3. School Software Management
- Maintain and safeguard authorised login credentials for all software platforms used by the organisation
- Manage data entry and updates in the Digital Admin Tool and other school software, resolve basic technical issues, and coordinate with respective software vendors for complex issues, following up until resolution and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
4. IT Security & Access Management
- Monitor firewall logs and activity to identify potential security threats or network intrusions.
- Install, update, and maintain antivirus software and endpoint security policies across all systems and laptops.
- Draft, update, and enforce IT security policies covering password standards, data access, and acceptable use.
- Create and manage authorised user accounts and review system access and permission levels on a regular basis to prevent unauthorised access.
5. Cambridge Exams & Security
- Prepare and support all IT and technical requirements for Cambridge examinations well ahead of scheduled dates.
- Verify that CCTV cameras covering the Strong Room and all examination areas are live, correctly angled, and recording throughout the exam period.
- Maintain secure, tamper-proof recordings and backups for the duration of examinations, per board requirements.
- Continuously monitor Strong Room surveillance and immediately report any security or technical concern to the Examination Cell and management.
- Restrict and verify authorised access to examination-related systems, recordings, and IT equipment at all times.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of CCTV systems, computer hardware and networking.
- Basic knowledge of firewalls, antivirus and IT security.
- Experience in maintaining IT assets and school software.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain records and handle confidential information.
- School experience will be an added advantage.
- Candidates from Kanchipuram and nearby areas preferred.
