Job summary

Behari Lal Engineering is seeking an Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Operator to inspect steel and alloy steel castings (ranging from 500 kg to 25 MT) in accordance with approved procedures, standards and customer requirements.

You will calibrate UT equipment, select probes, and set reference blocks, while detecting and evaluating internal defects, and preparing detailed inspection reports for traceability.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of UT testing, equipment calibration, defect interpretation, engineering drawings and applicable NDT standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasonic testing of steel and alloy steel castings as per approved procedures.
• Calibrate UT equipment, select suitable probes and set reference blocks before inspection.
• Detect, locate and evaluate internal defects such as shrinkage, porosity, cracks and inclusions.
• Mark identified indications on castings and evaluate results against applicable acceptance criteria.
• Prepare accurate UT inspection reports and maintain NDT records for traceability.
• Coordinate with QA, Foundry and Methoding teams for defect analysis and corrective action.
• Ensure safe handling and inspection of heavy castings and follow all safety procedures.
