Job summary

Presidency PU College seeks a dedicated Music Teacher to plan and deliver engaging music education for PU students, developing vocal and/or instrumental skills and preparing them for college events and performances.

You will train student music groups, select pieces for performances, and coordinate with staff for events, while maintaining records of participation and progress. A music degree and teaching experience are preferred. Freshers with strong qualifications may be considered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music from a recognized institution.
  • Formal training in vocal or instrumental music preferred.
  • Candidates with teaching experience in PU colleges or schools will be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct music classes for PU students.
  • Teach vocal music and/or instrumental music according to specialization.
  • Develop students’ musical knowledge, technique, rhythm, pitch, and performance skills.
  • Prepare students for cultural events, competitions, annual functions and performances.
  • Train and coordinate student music groups, choirs, bands, or ensembles.
  • Select and arrange suitable songs for different occasions.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions and assess students’ progress.
  • Encourage creativity, confidence, discipline, and appreciation of music.
  • Maintain records of student participation and progress.
  • Coordinate with faculty and management for college events and activities.
  • Ensure proper care and safe use of musical instruments and equipment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and cultural activities.

Job Summary

The Music Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging music education to PU college students, developing their vocal and/or instrumental skills, and preparing students for college events, competitions, cultural programmes, and other performances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct music classes for PU students.
  • Teach vocal music and/or instrumental music according to the candidates specialization.
  • Develop students’ musical knowledge, technique, rhythm, pitch, and performance skills.
  • Prepare students for cultural events, competitions, annual functions, assemblies, and special programmes.
  • Train and coordinate student music groups, choirs, bands, or ensembles.
  • Select and arrange suitable songs and musical pieces for different occasions.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions and assess students’ progress.
  • Encourage creativity, confidence, discipline, and appreciation of music among students.
  • Maintain appropriate records of student participation and progress.
  • Coordinate with faculty and management for college events and activities.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and safe use of musical instruments and equipment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, cultural activities, and other institutional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Formal training/certification in vocal or instrumental music is preferred.
  • Candidates with relevant teaching experience in schools, PU colleges, or other educational institutions will be preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one area of music; additional skills in instruments will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong vocal and/or instrumental ability.
  • Good knowledge of music theory, rhythm, notation, and performance techniques.
  • Excellent classroom management and student-engagement skills.
  • Ability to work with students of different skill levels.
  • Creativity in arranging and presenting musical programmes.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and prepare them for live performances.
  • Basic knowledge of digital music tools and audio equipment is an advantage.
Experience

Preferred: 2–5 years of relevant teaching/performance experience.
Freshers with strong musical qualifications and demonstrated performance skills may also be considered.
