Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Senior MS SQL DBA SME for Bengaluru-on-site deployment. The role focuses on installations, tuning, backups, and DR planning for mission-critical databases, with emphasis on high-availability and disaster recovery.

Ideal candidates have 8–12 years of SQL Server experience, strong skills in maintenance plans, replication, monitoring, and security. Bachelor's or Master's in CS/IT/Engineering is preferred, with hands-on expertise in SQL Server tools.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with SQL Server installations and patching.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server database tuning and maintenance.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and DR strategies.

Responsibilities

• Install, administer and maintain SQL Server instances.
• Create users and assign permissions for DB access.
• Design backup/restoration strategy and HA/DR plans.
• Setup high-availability as part of disaster recovery.
• Monitor performance at server and database levels; tune queries.
• Document major changes to SQL Servers; apply service packs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. 1. Hands-on experience with SQL Server installations and patching
2. 2. Strong knowledge of SQL Server database tuning
3. 3. knowledge of SQL Server database backup and recovery strategies.
4. 4. SQL Server replication, mirroring, log shipping, maintenance plans and DR recovery strategies
5. 5. Knowledge of SQL Server tools
6. 6. Installation, Administration and Maintenance of SQL Server Instances.
7. 7. Create Users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need
8. 8. Design database Backup and Restoration Strategy
9. 9. Setup High-Availability as part Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases
10. 10. Monitoring and Performance Tuning; Physical Server Level, Database level (Database settings and options) and query tuning.
11. 11. Documenting major changes to the SQL Servers.
12. 12. Apply Service Packs.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
