Security Managed Services Engineer (L1)
The Security Managed Services Engineer (L1) is responsible for providing a managed service to clients to ensure that their Firewall infrastructure remains operational. The role focuses on first‑line support for standard and low‑complexity incidents and service requests, proactively identifying, investigating, and routing incidents to the correct resolver group. The primary objective is to ensure zero missed service level agreement (SLA) conditions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monitor client infrastructure and solutions
- Identify problems and errors before they occur
- Identify common incidents and opportunities for avoidance and incident reduction
- Investigate first‑line incidents, determine root causes, and propose solutions
- Provide telephonic or chat support to clients when required
- Schedule maintenance windows for patching and configuration changes
- Follow handover procedures for shift changes to ensure service continuity
- Report and Escalate incidents where necessary
- Ensure efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests
- Update existing knowledge articles or create new ones
- Identify opportunities for work optimization, including automation of work, request fulfilment, incident resolution, and general process improvement
- Support or contribute to project work as required
- Work on implementing and delivering Disaster Recovery functions and tests

Academic Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in IT/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience)
- CCNA or relevant level‑1 Network Security certification is desirable; additional certifications carry extra weight
Required Experience
- Entry‑level experience troubleshooting and providing support in security, network, data centre, systems, or storage administration and monitoring services within a medium to large ICT organisation
- Basic knowledge of management agents, redundancy concepts, and products within the supported technical domain (Security, Network, Data Centre, Telephony, etc.)
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes
