Job Description

The MPS Electrical and/or Instrumentation (E&I) Designer prepares and develops arrangement and detail conceptual, key indicators FEED studies, and detailed design drawings of high technical quality and professionally consistent presentation, ensuring clarity and ease of construction. They develop 3D models and ensure clash‑free designs with all other disciplines, and ensure design deliverables are completed and issued as per project specifications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Become fully familiar with the contract scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter‑discipline requirements, including identifying concerns early and taking appropriate initiatives.
• Study and understand the E&I design scope, being conversant with company and client procedures, standards and applicable international codes and standards.
• Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications in the Change Management System, providing necessary supporting documentation and estimates; provide similar support for variation orders.
• Interface with all disciplines to develop clash‑free designs.
• Interface with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs and drawings.
• Liaise with other discipline support groups to ensure clearly defined interfaces, deliverables and schedules are met.
• Document substantive communications (those resulting in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to the discipline lead designer and discipline supervisor.
• Assist the discipline lead in preparing estimates for proposals and job scope changes, including execution statements, work schedules and man‑hour requirements.
• Travel as required to fulfill project and business needs.
• Attend project meetings, vendor/supplier meetings, engineering and design meetings as required.
• Set up and maintain the discipline master design drawing and document files, including final archiving.
• Prepare and review discipline deliverables such as 3‑D model, detailed design drawings, as‑built drawings, MTO extraction and preparation.
• Support the import and export of reference models to PDMS/E3D from vendor inputs.
• Review vendor drawing deliverables ensuring they meet project requirements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge in the discipline in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Knowledge of AVEVA Electrical and AVEVA Instrumentation is an added advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

Education qualifications:

• Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering or Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.

Experience

• 10+ years oil and gas industry experience.
• Prior work experience in the design of oil & gas production facilities, skid‑based design deliverables, site engineering support for construction, pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.

Expertise

• Prepare and review electrical design deliverables such as 3‑D model E&I scopes, one‑line diagrams, schematics, interconnection and wiring diagrams, block diagrams, area classification drawings, conduit and cable schedules, power layout drawings, cable tray layouts, earthing and lightning protection layout drawings, lighting layout drawings, electrical cable tray drawings and electrical equipment layouts.
• E&I support drawings, cable blocks diagram, cable & junction box schedule, instrument hook‑up diagrams (pneumatic and process).
• Installation standards, loop diagrams, fire & gas equipment layout, PA system, MCT arrangements, etc.
• Thorough understanding of interdisciplinary interfaces.
