Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evidence-based primary and secondary research on air pollution and policy issues to develop policy briefs, papers, and knowledge products.
  • Provide analytical and legislative support to MPs for parliamentary interventions, Bills, and debates.
  • Support programme implementation through field visits, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with government and civil society at national and sub-national levels.
  • Prepare reports, policy briefs, knowledge products, and executive summaries in accessible formats; contribute to communications and public outreach.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of climate, energy policy, and their intersections with development, health, and equity.

Job description

Analyst - Policy Engagements is an opportunity for committedyoung professionals to work closely with Hon'ble Members of Parliament (MPs) onclean air, lead exposure, and allied issues. The role will focus on drivingpolicy interventions at the national level while creating state anddistrict-level impact through evidence-based research, data analysis andknowledge exchange, legislative support and multi-stakeholder engagement. Theposition requires exceptional research, analytical, communication, coordination,multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct evidence-based primary andsecondary research on air pollution, lead exposure, and allied policy issues todevelop policy briefs, research papers, knowledge products, and expertbriefings on national and state policies and programs, government schemes,sectoral challenges, and emerging innovations and best practices. Take expertconsultations where necessary.
  • Provide analytical and legislativesupport to Hon'ble MPs for parliamentary interventions, Bills, StandingCommittee meetings, parliamentary debates, and other policy priorities byidentifying key policy gaps, opportunities, and specific solutions aligned withSwaniti's development approach.
  • Support programme implementationthrough field visits, stakeholder engagement, public-facing events, andcoordination with local government, civil society, think tanks, and otherstakeholders at the national and sub-national levels. This includes participatingin relevant meetings, supporting the review of clean air and lead exposurethrough DISHA Committee meetings, identifying intervention areas, strengtheninglocal capacity, and contributing to programme deliverables and targets,evidence-based policymaking and knowledge exchange.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders togather insights, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support evidence-basedpolicy making through stakeholder consultations, primary outreach, andresearch.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Prepare high-quality reports, policybriefs, knowledge products, and administrative documents- including policyrecommendations, impact assessments, and success stories on relevant policyissues. Ensure they are well researched, factually accurate, and presented ininternally standardized and accessible formats.
  • Actively contributes tocommunication initiatives, including content development, social mediaengagement, and public outreach to amplify policy insights and organizationalimpact.
  • Knowledge of India’s climate andenergy policy landscape, including national and sub-national frameworks relatedto heavy metals, air quality, energy transition, decarbonization, andsustainable development, with an understanding of their intersections witheconomic development, public health, social equity, and industrial policy.
  • Familiarity with key regulatoryinstruments, government schemes, and institutional mechanisms shaping theenergy transition ecosystem, including transport electrification, renewableenergy adoption, industrial decarbonization, and climate finance.
  • Familiarity with India's leadexposure and environmental health landscape, including national andsub-national policies, regulatory frameworks, government programmes, andinstitutional mechanisms related to lead poisoning prevention, environmentaland occupational exposure, child and maternal health, and evidence-basedapproaches for lead risk reduction and mitigation.
  • Strong understanding of thestructure and functioning of Union and State governments, includingadministrative, parliamentary hierarchies, and inter-governmental coordinationmechanisms.
Requirements
Education:
  • Postgraduate degree in EnvironmentalScience, Energy Studies, Climate Change, Economics, Public Policy, PoliticalScience, Law, Development Studies, Sustainability, or a related field.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1.5 years of full-time,post-graduate professional experience in public policy, governance,environmental studies, sustainability, or related domains.
  • Preference will be given tocandidates with prior experience working with government officials or electedrepresentatives.
  • Exposure to heavy metals, airpollution, energy transition and decarbonisation is highly desirable.
  • Engagement with multi-stakeholderecosystems, including government departments, industry bodies, think tanks, andcivil society organizations working on heavy metals, climate and energy-relatedissues.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong research and analyticalskills, with the ability to conduct primary and secondary research, analysedata, and develop clear, actionable policy insights and recommendations fromdiverse technical and policy sources.
  • Familiarity with data visualizationtools, and effective knowledge dissemination using standard policy advocacytools and strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills, with experience engaging professionally with governmentofficials, MPs, civil society, and grassroots stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeSuite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in visual storytelling,including but not limited to Canva.
  • Familiarity with governmentdatabases and public information sources.
