Job summary

Jord International is seeking an experienced Tekla Modeller/Lead Tekla Modeller to prepare 3D models and 2D drawings for structural steel projects. The role emphasizes strong knowledge of modular design, connection detailing, and Tekla programming in C#.

Candidates should manage models, revisions, and clash checks, while guiding junior drafters and coordinating with multiple teams. The ideal candidate has over ten years in Tekla drafting, with a minimum of five years in a lead role.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum ten years experience as Tekla draughtsman and at least 5 years as Lead Tekla Modeller.
• Experience with international structural design standards (Euro, American, Australian, Indian, Japanese).
• Proficient in Tekla settings (grid, environment, units) and Tekla maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D Tekla models from equipment, buys, piping per design input.
• Lead Tekla modelling efforts and guide junior drafters.
• Maintain model management and revision control; ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Develop 2D drawings for erection, assembly, and components per Jord/International procedures.
• Create reports (assembly, BOM, bolt lists, clash checks) using Tekla.

Job Description

The Tekla Modeller shall prepare 3D model layout, from equipment, bought out items and piping etc based on input from design engineer. Tekla Modeller should have knowledge on modular structure modelling and should be expert in custom connection application, connection detailing and well versed on Tekla programming with C sharp language. Tekla Modeller should have experience client’s drawings, geometry of structure, model management, revision control and other trades. Tekla Modeller should have knowledge on structural tolerance and other structural basic requirement. Tekla Modeller shall prepare 2D drawings erection, assembly & part drawings as per Jord / International procedures and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Should have experience in structural steel industry as main 3D Tekla modeller.
• Must be able to handle project independently and guide Tekla colleague.
• He should be knowledgeable in Model management and revision control in Tekla.
• He should be knowledgeable in connection details, modular structural design, lifting lugs requirement, structural welding code requirement & all type of bolt connection requirement.
• He should have knowledge hands on experience in working with secondary steel detailing like cable tray support, pipe support etc.
• He should be knowledgeable in Tekla modelling for fabricated beams, columns, duct, using plates.
• He should have basic knowledge on civil concrete work, pedestal, anchor bolts etc.
• He should knowledgeable on Tekla report like assembly, list, structure BOM, clash check, bolt location list, bolt list, etc.
• He should be able to develop project layout, erection, assembly & part detail drawing using Tekla software.
• Shall be responsible for the dimensional accuracy of the drawings / documents used for manufacturing
• Ensure “check punch list” is used while preparing and self-checking the drawings
• Drawing shall be prepared and self - checked with respect to assembly of each component.
• Edit and self-check drawing based on comments from customer / fabrication/ checkers/design /discipline engineers
• Prepare and self- check BOM and its weight in the drawing as well as procurement BOM
• Discuss with checkers/design engineers and resolve design changes and implement in drawings for optimisation.
• Conversant with the product and able to apply design codes / standards and good engineering practices.
• Wherever required draw freehand sketches of designs for initial understanding or input to product detailing.
• New ideas and system changes shall be discussed among all draughtsman and checking groups.
• Work and produce output within agreed planned dates and within budgeted hours.
• Ensuring that drawing/documents are backed up or stored after completion in Job hub.
• Supervise and train other drafters for accuracy and quality output in the department.
• Seeks assistance of engineering manager/design engineers in resolving complex or ambiguous issues
• Assist sales and other departments in providing drawing, sketches for operational, presentation, tender, proposal requirements and perform special tasks as assigned.
• Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements

Skills and Experience:

• Basic qualifications in Diploma in Civil / Mechanical Engineering
• At least ten years of experience as Tekla draughtsman and minimum 5-year experience as Lead Tekla Modeller.
• Should be conversant with international structure design standard like Euro, American, Australian, Indian & Japanese standard.
• Should be expert in basic setting of Tekla, like grid, environment, units etc. and conversant with installation and maintenance requirement.
• Operating skill in AutoCAD / Navisworks, etc
• Exposure to pressure vessels, heat exchangers, skid mounted units, steel structure fabrication and piping etc
• Working knowledge in drafting steel fabrication drawings using Tekla
• Has done several projects from beginning to end and must be able to work cross functionally with team members at all levels across multiple departments involved in different projects
• He must be self-motivated.
