Job summary

Bioline Laboratory in Tiruppur, India seeks a dedicated Blood Collection Attendant for home visits and in-person testing. You will plan schedules, collect blood samples, and ensure accurate labeling while upholding patient confidentiality and safety standards.

The role requires 1 year of home collection experience, valid licence (RC) and vehicle insurance, and a willingness to travel up to 100%. Work location is in person.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to PPE policy at all times and maintains proper dress code.
• Plan and prepare the blood collection schedule based on appointments.
• Travel to specified locations to draw blood samples as required.
• Keep the collection kit neat, clean and stocked with supplies.
• Greet patients courteously and respond with empathy.
• Instruct patients on proper specimen collection (urine, sputum, etc.).
• Label vacutainers accurately with patient details and test requirements.
• Identify patients by matching requisition details with the barcode before procedures.
• Draw blood using established venipuncture procedures.
• Collect timed specimens (e.g., glucose, hormones) at appropriate times.
• Collect payments for tests and provide receipts.
• Maintain specimens during transport according to guidelines.
• Ensure safe handling and disposal of sharps and used materials.
• Complete registration, barcode, dispatch, and disposal per procedure.
• Verify report dispatch status and maintain patient confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Adheres to policy on proper dress code and Universal Precautions (PPE) always
• Plan and prepare the collection schedule based on the scheduled appointment
• Follow traffic rules and road safety instruction as per local and Govt regulations
• Traveling to specified locations to draw blood samples as required.
• Keeps the collection kit neat, clean and well stocked with supplies for specimen collection
• Greets patients in a courteous manner, responds to patients with empathy
• Properly instructs patients, in the correct way to collect specimens (i.e., for urine, sputum, stool, semen, GTTs, etc.) based on test requested.
• Always accurately label the vacutainers (patient’s name, age, gender) based on the test and specimen required and gets acknowledged from the patient
• Always identifies correct patients by comparing identification details (at least two) on requisition with barcode provided before a procedure is performed
• Consistently draws blood properly using established laboratory procedures in a professional manner
• Maintains awareness of timed specimen’s collection and their importance and attempts to collect these specimens at appropriate time (i.e., Glucose, Cortisol, Timed urine, Hormones, etc.)
• Informs the patient on the scheduled report time Collects payment for the test requested and provide the cash receipt
• Appropriately maintain the specimens during transportation in accordance with recommended guidelines
• Ensure safe provision to carry sharps and other items used in venipuncture procedures
• Completes registration, due closing, sample bar-coding, dispatch to departments and disposal of used materials as per established procedure
• Verifies the status of dispatch of reports
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and should not solicit nor accept tips, gifts or other courtesies from patients or their relatives.
