The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or B.Tech in Mine Engineering with a 2nd Class (R-CMR) and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in open cast coal mining.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in achieving coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe and efficient utilization of resources.
• Ensure compliance with production and dispatch commitments for quantity and quality of coal through optimal deployment of machines, equipment, manpower, and other resources.
• Coordinate with Auto-Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation, and Blasting departments to ensure safe, continuous, and efficient mining operations.
• Maintain prescribed logbooks, records, and operational reports, monitor key indicators and efficiency measures, and highlight observations to the Project/Production Manager.
• Ensure compliance with statutory acts, rules, SOPs, and codes of practice applicable to the mine.
• Conduct safety talks at the start of each shift covering unsafe acts/conditions, near misses, and other safety concerns.
• Monitor haul road conditions, equipment breakdowns, and safety concerns and take timely corrective actions.
• Coordinate with the control room to prevent unsafe distractions and promote safe work practices.
• Ensure proper shift handover with complete information to the reliever and remain on site until properly relieved.
• Perform other duties assigned to support safe, efficient, and productive mining operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in achieving coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe and efficient utilization of available resources.
• Ensure compliance with production and dispatch commitments for both quantity and quality of coal through optimal deployment of machines, equipment, manpower, and other resources.
• Coordinate with Auto-Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation, and Blasting departments to ensure safe, continuous, and efficient mining operations.
• Maintain prescribed logbooks, records, and operational reports, monitor key operational indicators and efficiency measures, and highlight significant observations to the Project/Production Manager.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory acts, rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Code of Practice applicable to the mine.
• Conduct safety talks at the beginning of each shift, covering unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, and other relevant safety concerns.
• Monitor mine safety and traffic discipline, including tipper/dumper loading stability, prevention of overloading, adherence to designated routes, and compliance with prescribed traffic rules.
• Prevent unauthorized entry of outsiders or vehicles into the mine and ensure geo-fence boundaries are maintained, with violations reported and addressed promptly.
• Ensure personnel found under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances are removed from the mine, attendance is appropriately recorded, and the matter is reported to the Project Manager.
• Immediately report accidents, incidents, near misses, security concerns, and other untoward occurrences during the shift to the appropriate higher authorities.
• Ensure appropriate security measures are taken for coal-loaded tippers/dumpers that break down while en route to their destination.
• Monitor haul road conditions, equipment breakdowns, and other mine safety concerns and ensure timely corrective action. Take immediate decision action during weather-related issues and other emergencies as well.
• Ensure appropriate firefighting arrangements, dust suppression, illumination, and other environmental and workplace safety measures are maintained at the site.
• To coordinate with the control room to prevent unsafe distractions, including unauthorized use of mobile phones by workmen during operational activities, and promote safe work practices.
• Ensure effective shift handover by providing the reliever with complete information regarding operational status, equipment breakdowns, safety concerns, pending activities, and other critical matters.
• Remain at the workplace until properly relieved by the designated successor.
• Ensure proper understanding and implementation of the required Mining Operation and transportation facilitation applications, including its functionality, benefits, and applicable SOPs, and ensure compliance with prescribed processes.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or superiors in support of safe, efficient, and productive mining operations.
