Job summary

Oriental Power Cables invites applications for a Surveyor role at our opencast coal mine in Gotitoria, Gadarwara, Madhya Pradesh. You will perform boundary, contour and progress surveys, maintain statutory records, and support mine planning with precise survey data.

The ideal candidate holds a 3-year Diploma in Mining/Mine Surveying or a Mining/Civil Engineering degree, with DGMS Surveyor Certificate and 8–12 years of hands-on experience using Total Station and DGPS.

Qualifications

  • 3-year Diploma in Mining/Mine Surveying Engineering or a Degree in Mining/Civil Engineering from a recognised board or institution
  • DGMS Surveyor Certification is required

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular surveying of the opencast mine, including boundary, contour, and progress surveys, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate survey plans, sections, KML file, and statutory registers as prescribed under the Coal Mines Regulations.
  • Operate and maintain Total Station, DGPS, and other survey instruments for precise measurements.
  • Support mine planning and production teams with up-to-date survey data for safe and efficient extraction.
  • Monitor and record excavation limits, benches, and dump areas to ensure compliance with approved mining plans.
  • Coordinate with DGMS officials and other statutory authorities on survey-related compliance and reporting.
  • Assist in demarcation of safety zones, barriers, and boundary pillars as per statutory norms.
  • Prepare and update mine maps, plans, and sections on a regular basis.

About the Opportunity

We are hiring for the position of Surveyor for an Opencast Coal Mine situated at Village Gotitoria, Tehsil Gadarwara, District Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. This role is responsible for carrying out accurate mine surveying operations, maintaining statutory survey records, and supporting safe and efficient mine planning through the use of modern surveying instruments and techniques. Key Responsibilities

Qualification

Certificate of Competency
  • Surveyor's Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS).
Experience
  • A minimum of 8 to 12 years of practical surveying experience at a top level in an opencast coal mine.
  • Well-versed in the use of modern surveying instruments and techniques.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern surveying instruments, including Total Station and DGPS.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory survey requirements under the Coal Mines Regulations.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret mine plans, sections, and progress maps accurately.
  • Good coordination and communication skills for liaising with statutory authorities and internal teams.
  • Basic computer proficiency for survey documentation, data recording, and reporting.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
