Qualifications

• 3+ years in commodities trading support, middle office, or trading operations.

• Experience in physical trade execution and logistics coordination.
• Advanced Excel skills for automation and reporting; VBA/Python a plus.
• Excellent communication across multiple locations, time zones and cultures.

Responsibilities

Middle Officer – Mercuria / Tata International JV

The joint venture between Mercuria and Tata International is looking for an experienced and proactive Middle Officer to support its business, which is minerals/ metals oriented. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, robust risk management, and supporting commercial decision-making across the full trade lifecycle. As the JV spans multiple locations and time zones, strong communication and coordination skills are essential to the role.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface between front office and internal stakeholders, bringing hands-on experience in metals trading, pricing, and trade execution. A strong understanding of trade economics, P&L attribution, and market dynamics is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely trade capture, pricing, and position reporting for the Minerals / Metals business
• Produce and explain daily P&L, including detailed attribution and analysis of key drivers
• Monitor and manage risk exposure, including hedging strategies and pricing mechanisms
• Support traders in pricing decisions and optimization strategies for Minerals / Metals contracts
• Analyze deal economics, market structure, and pricing dynamics to support commercial negotiations
• Support trade execution and logistics flows for Minerals / Metals shipments
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (operations, credit, accounting, compliance) to ensure seamless execution
• Coordinate effectively across the JV's different locations and time zones, ensuring clear and timely communication with colleagues and stakeholders regardless of geography
• Identify and implement process improvements, including automation of reporting tools
• Contribute to system enhancements in collaboration with IT and business teams

Technical Expertise

• 3+ years of experience in commodities trading support, middle office, or trading operations
• Strong knowledge of metals markets, with experience in minerals/ metals particularly preferred
• Proven experience in P&L reporting, pricing strategies, and hedge management
• Experience in physical trade execution and logistics coordination
• Strong analytical skills with ability to assess deal economics and market dynamics
• Advanced Excel skills (automation, reporting tools); VBA/Python is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to work effectively across different locations, time zones, and cultures
