Job summary

IIGJ Faculty of Jewellery Merchandising invites applications to teach, mentor, and develop the next generation of jewellery merchandising professionals. Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degrees in Merchandising, Jewellery Business Management, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching and/or industry experience in merchandising, retail operations, product planning, or export markets.
  • Industry to be hired from: Jewellery (manufacturing, retail, export), Lifestyle Retail, E‑Commerce, Buying & Merchandising, or Education.
  • Salary Budget (Rs): 5 Lac to 7 Lac pa + Allowances & Benefits: Performance Incentive, PF, Gratuity, Local Conveyance, Mobile Bill, Comprehensive Insurance, Annual Leaves, Festive Holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and develop curriculum in merchandising principles, collection planning, retail and online merchandising, costing and pricing, ERP/CRM applications, and international jewellery markets.
  • Mentor students on academic projects, internships, and career readiness with applied assessments and portfolio development.
  • Collaborate with retailers, exporters, and trade associations to arrange guest lectures, live projects, and industry visits.
  • Continuously update course content to reflect market trends, innovations, and omnichannel retail practices.
  • Perform academic duties such as assessments, student guidance, workshops, and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Dean/HOD.

Job Summary / Objective: The Faculty of Jewellery Merchandising will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of jewellery merchandising professionals. The role combines academic instruction with industry application, ensuring students gain practical exposure to product planning, costing, retail operations, international markets, and the use of digital/AI tools in merchandising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and develop curriculum in merchandising principles, collection planning, retail and online merchandising, costing and pricing, ERP/CRM applications, and international jewellery markets.
  • Facilitate experiential learning through case studies, simulations, merchandising calendars, assortment plans, costing sheets, and inventory dashboards.
  • Integrate advanced tools such as AI trend forecasting, data analytics, ERP, and CRM systems into classroom teaching.
  • Mentor students on academic projects, internships, and career readiness with applied assessments and portfolio development.
  • Collaborate with retailers, exporters, and trade associations to arrange guest lectures, live projects, and industry visits.
  • Continuously update course content to reflect market trends, innovations, and omnichannel retail practices.
  • Perform academic duties such as assessments, student guidance, workshops, and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Dean/HOD.
Required Functional Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of product merchandising, range planning, pricing strategies, inventory management, visual merchandising, and vendor coordination.
  • Knowledge of domestic and export documentation, trade practices, and global market requirements.
  • Awareness of jewellery market trends, consumer behaviour, and technological advancements (AI forecasting, digital shelf management, virtual merchandising).
  • Proficiency in Excel-based costing models, ERP/CRM platforms, and merchandising analytics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills with the ability to link theory to real-world practice.
