Overview
About the Role The Merchandiser is the liaison between the San Francisco based team and the factories, managing seasonal developments, vendor relations, T&A and key communications. They work with WSI QA to support the US based team and factory needs.
Responsibilities
- Product Development: Fully versed on T&A master calendar and all key dates for product development samples. Monitor testing of products with factories and protocol adherence. Communicate target costs and sample ETD’s to vendors, and follow up on weekly progress. Communicate program approval to vendors and ensure that the factory has the correct approved sample before they go into production. Troubleshoot any issues that come up in production and work with factory to ensure on-time delivery and notify Merchandise Manager if there are any major delays.
- Vendor relations and capacity management: Facilitate onboarding of new vendors. Create strong relationships with all of our key vendors. Stay on top of factory issues (strikes, holidays, etc) and report to Merchandise manager as needed.
- Sourcing: New products / factories via trade shows and market contacts. Understand the capabilities of all of our factories. Development trips. Prepare all documents and samples for team’s visit. Liaise with QA team. Arrange inspection schedule across factories.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of practical experience in Dec Acc products.
- Knowledge of sourcing and product development.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing process in the Dec Acc / Tabletop area / Metalware / Mirror / Storage / Tableware.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good written communications skills.
- Vendor Sourcing & Relationships: Assist and maintain strong relationships with local vendors to ensure production process and output – such as capacity, sample submissions, revisions, negotiations, monitor supplier performance to ensure it meets or exceeds company standards and expectations.
- Technical Competencies Required: Computer skills including the spreadsheet and word-processing programs, and e-mail at a highly proficient level.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; ability to type on a keyboard and operate a PC; ability to converse over a telephone; ability to work in office and perform in corporate environment.
