Job summary

UNIQUE DESIGNS in Mumbai is seeking a Merchan­diser cum Order Coordinator to own every order from mill PO to fabric dispatch. The role requires hands-on textile merchandising or fabric trading experience, and fluency in Hindi with working English; Gujarati is a plus.

Based in Mumbai with periodic travel to Ludhiana and Surat, you will manage PO trackers, reconcile orders, and ensure daily order flow between sales, warehouse, and billing. Reports to the Director, Viraj Mehta.

Qualifications

• Hands-on textile merchandising or fabric trading experience.
• Read fabric specs (GSM, dia, colour, construction) and discuss production with mills.
• Disciplined with trackers; success depends on consistency.
• Fluent Hindi + working English; Gujarati a plus.
• Comfortable with WhatsApp-based and simple digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Follow up with mills on production status, greige, dyeing, printing, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain the PO tracker as the single source of truth for mill order status.
• Run daily dispatch-order intake and confirm into pending-order system.
• Reconcile ordered vs dispatched items and manage the 7 PM pending-orders report.
• Coordinate between sales, warehouse, and billing to ensure smooth order flow.

Merchandiser cum Order Coordinator

Own every order from the moment a mill PO is raised to the moment the fabric is dispatched to the customer the single person accountable that nothing falls between "ordered" and "delivered".

Location: Mumbai with periodic mill travel to Ludhiana / Surat

Reports to: Director, Viraj Mehta

Experience: 36 years in textile / apparel merchandising or fabric trading

What You'll Do

• Follow up with mills in Ludhiana, Surat, and Mumbai on open POs production status, greige, dyeing, printing, delivery timelines. Push when they slip.
• Maintain the PO tracker as the single source of truth on mill order status. No order untracked.
• Run the daily dispatch-order intake: every customer order that comes in gets confirmed into the pending-order system before it reaches the warehouse.
• Close the loop daily reconcile what was ordered against what was dispatched, and own the 7 PM pending-orders report. Anything still open at day-end is yours to explain and clear.
• Coordinate between sales (showroom / client side), the Bhiwandi warehouse, and Dadar billing so orders move without the Director having to chase.

Must Have

• Hands-on textile merchandising or fabric trading experience knits preferred.
• Comfortable reading fabric specs (GSM, dia, colour, construction) and talking production with mills.
• Disciplined with trackers and follow-ups this role lives or dies on consistency, not heroics.
• Fluent Hindi + working English. Gujarati a plus.
• Comfortable on WhatsApp-based and simple digital tools.

Nice to Have

• Existing mill relationships in Ludhiana / Surat knit clusters.
• Experience setting up or running an order-tracking process.
