Job summary

DNA Growth is seeking a Medical Coder for on-site work in Ludhiana. The role requires 1–2 years of hands-on coding experience with ICD-10 and CPT, plus strong attention to detail and communication skills.

You will review medical records, code diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines. Qualifications include a life sciences-related Bachelor's degree and CPC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, nursing, pharmacy, or related field; CPC preferred.
• 1–2 years of hands-on medical coding experience.
• Proficient with ICD-10/CPT guidelines and payer requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• On-site in Ludhiana; relocation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Independently read, review, and accurately code medical records using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Apply medical terminology and clinical docs to assign correct codes with minimal supervision.
• Ensure coded data, investigations, diagnoses, and follow-ups are accurate and compliant.
• Identify discrepancies or missing docs and query clinicians for clarification.
• Alert clinicians to new diagnoses or medications needing follow-up.
• Notify GPs, pharmacists, and healthcare pros of new chronic diseases requiring monitoring.
• Mentor trainee coders and review their work for accuracy when needed.
• Maintain productivity and quality consistent with 1–2 years of coding experience.
• Stay updated on coding guideline changes and payer-specific rules.

Job Title: Medical Coder (1–2 Years Experience)

Location: Ludhiana (On-site)

Working Days & Time: 12 noon to 9 pm IST & 1 Saturday working in every month.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently read, review, and accurately code incoming medical correspondence and patient records using standard coding classifications (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, as applicable).
• Apply working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation to assign correct codes with minimal supervision.
• Ensure coded information, investigations, diagnoses, and follow-ups are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant coding guidelines.
• Identify discrepancies, missing documentation, or coding errors and elevate/query with clinicians for clarification.
• Alert clinicians to medical problems, new diagnoses, or medications that need follow-up.
• Notify GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals of new chronic diseases requiring ongoing monitoring.
• Support and mentor trainee coders as needed, reviewing their work for accuracy where required.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks consistent with 1–2 years of hands‑on coding experience.
• Stay updated on coding guideline changes, payer‑specific rules, and compliance requirements.

Education/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification (life sciences, nursing, pharmacy, or related field preferred).Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in medical coding, preferably in a similar role.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and its translation into accurate codes on patient records.
• Practical experience applying ICD-10/CPT coding guidelines in a real‑world setting.
• Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated track record of accuracy.
• Ability to work with data, identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies.
• Excellent communication skills with colleagues and healthcare professionals; positive, proactive, and informative approach.
• Good working knowledge of IT packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn coding/EHR software such as Doc Man and EMIS Web.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Able to work independently and largely unsupervised.
• Efficient, reliable, and committed to delivering quality work consistently.

NOTE - Ludhiana relocation required. Immediate joiners preferred.
