Shaip Ai Data in Ahmedabad is seeking a delivery leadership role to guide the healthcare data team across de-identification, NER annotation, medical coding and imaging annotation projects. You will own delivery, quality, privacy compliance, and client communication while mentoring a team of medical annotators, coders and QA reviewers on a 12-month contract.

Role Summary

You will lead our healthcare data team, delivering de-identification, pseudonymization, NER annotation, medical coding and medical imaging annotation projects. You will own delivery, quality, privacy compliance and client communication, and you will lead and mentor a team of medical annotators, coders and QA reviewers. This is a contract role for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and run end-to-end annotation projects, covering scope, timelines, resourcing and delivery.
• Lead, coach and performance-manage a team of 57 annotators, coders and QA reviewers.
• Work with clients to turn clinical requirements into annotation guidelines and schemas, and keep those guidelines current.
• Apply the right de-identification approach for each project (HIPAA Safe Harbor, HIPAA Expert Determination, or GDPR pseudonymization/anonymization) and make sure the team follows it.
• Set and track quality metrics such as accuracy, inter-annotator agreement, turnaround time and rework rate. Run QA and feedback loops.
• Provide clinical oversight on medical terminology, coding standards and edge cases.
• Manage annotation tools and platforms, and coordinate with tech and ML teams.
• Communicate and coordinate with vendors (annotation tool providers, staffing and outsourcing partners, and other third-party service providers) on scope, timelines, pricing, deliverables, quality and escalations, and track vendor performance against agreed SLAs.
• Report project status, risks and escalations to management and clients on a regular schedule.
• Handle tight deadlines, shifting priorities and client escalations calmly.

Requirements

Must Have

• Education: A medical or allied-health degree: B.Pharm, or an equivalent such as Pharm.D, MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT or B.Sc Nursing. Candidates from a non-medical background will not be considered. An MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
• Clinical research experience: 3-5 years in clinical research or a related healthcare data field (CDM, pharmacovigilance, medical coding or similar).
• Leadership experience: 3-5 years as a project lead, with demonstrated success leading a team of at least 5-7 people.
• Privacy and compliance: Working knowledge of HIPAA (Privacy Rule, including the Safe Harbor method and its 18 identifiers, and the Expert Determination method) and GDPR (including pseudonymization vs. anonymization).
• Medical knowledge: Strong grounding in medical terminology, clinical documentation and clinical data workflows.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, including client-facing and vendor-facing experience.
• Resilience: Proven ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
• Location: Willingness to work from our Ahmedabad office.
• Availability: Ability to join at short notice and commit to a 12 month contract.

Good to Have

• Hands-on experience with de-identification, NER or other medical text or imaging annotation.
• Familiarity with coding systems (ICD-10, MedDRA, WHODrug, SNOMED CT) and coding certifications (CPC, CCS or similar).
• Knowledge of India's DPDP Act and ICH-GCP.
• Experience with annotation tools (e.g., Label Studio, Labelbox, Encord, Prodigy) and project tools (Jira, Asana).
