Job summary

Origin in Bengaluru is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to support mechanical assembly, fitment, and basic design drafting for robot and product development. You will work on reading drawings, using hand and power tools, and ensuring precise fitment on assemblies.

This role involves prototype builds, updating drawings, and coordinating with design and production teams to drive improvements in an fast-paced workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Fitter, Tool & Die, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Experience in mechanical assembly or fabrication (0–4 years preferred).
• Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape, or similar).
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Strong hands‑on skills with mechanical tools & measurement instruments.
• Ability to work independently and solve assembly issues on the floor.
• Willingness to work in a fast‑paced product/prototype environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly and fitment of components, brackets, structures, and sub-systems.
• Read and interpret 2D drawings, basic CAD models, and assembly instructions.
• Assist in design drafting (2D/3D) for simple parts under supervision.
• Use hand tools and power tools like grinders, drills, torque wrenches, rivet guns, spanners, etc.
• Carry out alignment, leveling, fitment checks, and ensure precision.
• Support prototype build, testing, and rework activities.
• Maintain inventory of mechanical parts, fasteners, and tools.
• Ensure assembly quality, safety, and housekeeping standards in the workshop.
• Coordinate with design and production teams for corrections and improvements.
