Job summary

Lloyds Steels in Port Blair seeks a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on hydraulic systems experience to install, commission HPUs and shipboard hydraulics. You will read P&IDs, participate in testing and coordinate with shipyards and electrical teams.

The role focuses on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and reporting for hydraulic equipment on vessels, requiring on-site shipyard work and strong practical skills.

Qualifications

• 35 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/hydraulic systems aboard ships.
• Experience in shipbuilding/naval/marine environments.
• Ability to read hydraulic circuit diagrams and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission HPUs and hydraulic systems onboard ships.
• Work with hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, manifolds, accumulators and piping.
• Perform pressure testing, leak testing, flushing and oil filling.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic problems and carry out repairs/servicing.
• Participate in FAT, IFAT, Harbour Trials and Sea Trials.
• Read and understand hydraulic circuit diagrams, P&IDs and mechanical drawings.
• Support mechanical equipment installation and alignment.
• Prepare service, inspection and commissioning reports.
• Coordinate with shipyard, electrical, PLC and other project teams.
