Emerson in Pune, India is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of high performance butterfly valve technologies from concept to validated prototypes. You will act as a mechanical SME, guiding design decisions and collaborating with global teams across design, testing, and manufacturing.
The role requires an advanced mechanical engineering degree, strong CAD skills (Inventor/AutoCAD/SolidWorks), and experience in valve development.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Support the development and implementation of innovative High Performance Butterfly Valve technologies and concepts.
Serve as a subject matter expert for the mechanical aspects of HPBV designs and components.
Develop new product concepts that address market requirements and strengthen competitive positioning.
Guide projects from concept development through detailed design and validation.
Establish, document, and implement engineering best practices and design methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, testing, simulation, materials, marketing, and supply chain professionals.
Support additional engineering initiatives and special projects as needed.
Who You Are:
For This Role, You Will Need:
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong experience applying engineering fundamentals to develop new mechanical product concepts and designs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
Knowledge of pressure-retaining materials, coatings, wear mechanisms, machine design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with modern manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing and advanced machining methods.
Experience managing product development activities from customer requirements through prototype testing and production readiness.
Proficiency in CAD tools such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
Working knowledge of relevant international engineering and quality standards, including ASME, API, EN, ISO, and related valve standards.
Experience with engineering validation methodologies including GD&T, DFMEA, QFD, DFM/A, engineering calculations, and design verification practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and collaborate globally across different time zones.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
Approximately 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience within industrial valve applications.
Experience working within global or matrix organizations and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
Demonstrated experience supporting new product development and innovation initiatives.
Ability to take initiative, prioritize effectively, and drive projects forward with a high level of integrity and accountability.
Interest in emerging technologies, automation, and continuous improvement.
Willingness to travel globally when business needs require.
