Job summary

Flowserve seeks a Project Engineer for Wet Seal Systems in Tamil Nadu. You will review engineering inputs, sign off on system designs, and support the design team with calculations, P&IDs, and ITP/IOM creation. Strong mechanical knowledge and customer-centric approach are essential.

You will coordinate with commercial operations and projects teams, respond to technical queries, and ensure high-quality, compliant submittals across orders and proposals.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with mechanical seals and wet seal systems (5–8 years preferred).
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and creating assembly drawings.
• Strong communication and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Review order input data and design wet seal systems for orders and proposals.
• Coordinate project handoff and ensure technical submittals meet requirements.
• Prepare instrument data sheets, ITP, IOM and control narratives.
• Provide technical guidance to Pump BU and perform seal/system failure analysis.
• Review and document design changes to improve first-pass yield.

Job description

Overall Goal

The Wet Seal Systems Project Engineer is responsible for detailed review and engineering sign off in providing technical and engineering assistance on wet auxiliary system from selection, specification review, calculations, P&ID, system description and clean order input and hand off to design engineering team.

They will be the first point of contact for all wet seal system engineering activities and respond to technical queries and needs of customers and commercial operations team.

The incumbent should be "Customer Centric" and demonstrate a "Can Do" approach to gain customer confidence.

Take complete ownership for standard system engineering submittal documents from engineering and also Sign off Custom Engineered Systems closely reviewing the RISK with transmittal from reporting Manager.

Principal Accountabilities

• Review order input data, take ownership for the wet seal systems design, sizing and selection for orders and proposals.
• Project hand off
• Specification and compliance and Exceptions log review
• Reference drawings search and calculations
• Work instructions for design engineering to create BOM and GA
• Creation of Instrument data sheets, Utilities consumption list, Alarm settings table, Logic diagram and control narrative for wet seal systems
• Creation of Inspection test plan (ITP) and Installation and Operating Manual (IOM) in accordance with Vendor requirements
• Provide support on product coding, basic engineering advice, reference proposal drawings and experience lists for specific applications.
• Work with Commercial operations and projects team to attend technical clarification meetings.
• Perform dimensional and design check on the output of system design engineering team and submittal documents for technical integrity and in line with seal design and associated heat load calculations.
• Review revision requests and design changes and document lessons learnt to overcome internal errors and improve the Quality to achieve a good first pass yield.
• Use in-house tools like Nexus, Application Engineering Program and Imaging, to process and manage engineering tasks on a daily base
• Provide technical advice to Pump BU on system problems, Perform and document seal / system failure analysis using Flowserve tools and processes
• Maintain a daily log of activities and weekly reports of jobs processed for reporting manager review on a regular base.

Prerequisites

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Competence in MS Office applications.
• 5 to 8 years working experience with mechanical seals & wet seal systems is preferred.
• Knowledge in SolidWorks and design in preparing assembly and component drawings.
• Familiar with Mechanical engineering design and ANSI / API standard Ability to analyze and interpret engineering specifications and drawings.
• Knowledge in basic calculations for structural analysis, flow, orifice, heat load, pressure drop etc.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, distinguish between relevant and/or irrelevant contributing factors and draw valid conclusions.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) and strong self - motivation, willingness to learn and work ethic.
