Job summary

Stantec in Visakhapatnam is seeking a mechanical engineer with 5–8 years of experience in water and pumping projects. You will size equipment, prepare data sheets, and contribute to optioneering, detailed design, and construction support across project phases.

Responsibilities include creating plant layouts and isometrics, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with ASME/API/BS EN standards. Offshore travel and off-hours support may be required, aligned with project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 5–8 years in water, waste water treatment and pumping station projects.
• Knowledge of P&ID and control philosophy with integration of mechanical systems across project phases.
• Proficient in equipment sizing, including rotating equipment and pumps.
• Familiar with ASME, API, and BS EN standards.
• Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and pump station design.
• Generate plant layout design.
• Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, OpenPlant Modeler.
• Strong data manipulation in MS Excel/Access.
• Technical report writing.
• Professional and effective communication across project phases.
• Flexible attitude, proactive delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical equipment sizing, calculations, and selection.
• Produce technical mechanical specifications, data sheets, schedules, reports, and other deliverables
• Contribute to optioneering, outline design, detailed design, and construction support for respective projects.
• Prepare technical reports.
• HAZOP, ALM, and Hazardous area classification.
• Whole Life Cost analysis.
• Prepare mechanical plant general arrangement drawings, bills of quantities, piping layouts, and isometric drawings across project phases.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
• Complete work in line with STANTEC Core Values and Quality Procedures.
• Work off-hours for client coordination: occasionally.
• Travel offshore for training / on-site work: occasionally.

Job description

Person Specifications:

• Bachelor/ masters degree in mechanical engineering
• 5 to 8 years of experience in water, waste water treatment, industrial water treatment and pumping station projects.
• Knowledge of process and Instrumentation diagram and control philosophy with the ability to integrated mechanical system for seamless coordination across all project phases.
• Proficient in equipment selection and sizing, including rotating equipment and pump.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards such as ASME, API, and BS EN
• Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and pump station design, pump sizing and selection
• Generate plant layout design.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D drafting software such as AutoCAD, REVIT and Open Plant Modeler preferred.
• Have excellent data manipulation abilities (MS Excel/MS Access database type packages)
• Technical report writing skills.
• Competent level of baseline skills, i.e. professional and confident with the essential, basic business and communication skills that are required for career growth in all positions.
