Job summary

Fuji Electric is seeking a skilled mechanical design engineer to support the mechanical design and development of UPS and power electronics products. The role involves creating detailed drawings, 3D models, and assembly instructions using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

You will work with sheet metal design, electromechanical packaging, and thermal management to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical design for UPS or power electronics is highly desirable.
  • Strong sketching, detailing and 3D modeling skills with CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for cost-effective designs.
  • Familiarity with IP ratings, creepage/clearance, and busbar sizing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise mechanical drawings and 3D models for UPS enclosures and components.
  • Prepare assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings per specs.
  • Develop and manage BOMs with accuracy.
  • Perform tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability and quality.
  • Contribute to design-for-manufacturability improvements and cost reductions.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled mechanical design engineer to support the mechanical design and development of UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and power electronics products. This role involves creating detailed mechanical drawings, 3D models, and assembly instructions using CAD tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have experience with sheet metal design, electromechanical packaging, and thermal management, along with a good understanding of industry standards and manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development
  • Create and revise detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models for UPS enclosures, battery racks, cooling systems, and associated components.
  • Prepare assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings aligned with engineering specifications and project needs.
  • Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) with accuracy.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure precision manufacturing and reliable assembly.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for optimized cost-effective designs.
  • Ensure designs meet industrial standards, including IP ratings, creepage/clearance, and busbar sizing requirements.
  • Contribute to cost reduction through innovative design improvements.
  • (Optional) Perform FEA simulations & CFD to validate designs (preferred but not mandatory).
System Integration
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams for seamless mechanical integration into electrical and electronic systems.
  • Support thermal design strategies to balance compact layouts with adequate cooling performance.
Compliance and Quality
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant safety regulations, IP standards, and quality norms.
  • Maintain focus on industrial compliance in all mechanical design activities.
Problem-Solving and Optimization
  • Identify opportunities for design simplification, manufacturability improvements, and material optimization.
  • Proactively resolve design challenges and implement best practices for mechanical layout efficiency.
