Overview
Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing design proposals, specifications, drawings, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost implications, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. The SME identifies project requirements, provides design solutions to develop requirements as per specifications, and ensures robust design. A diversified portfolio of technical functions with strong knowledge of GD&T is expected. The role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and includes facilitating meetings with customers and sub-consultants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with global and local product management to define and design or redesign mechanical structures of Schneider Electric Enterprise UPS products based on customer feedback related to quality improvements or enhancements.
- Participate in the upstream phase of the study (functional analysis).
- Design and develop new products and subassemblies in a specialty.
- Conduct and participate in root cause analysis, brainstorm solutions, and validate and verify solutions until implementation.
- Validate designs by carrying out simulations and prototyping.
- Fully responsible for the complete verification and validation of design standards.
SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
- Proficiency in plastic part and sheet metal design.
- Pro/E tooling expertise with large assemblies and sheet metal enclosures.
- Experience in structural analysis and simulations.
- Proficiency in GD&T, Tolerance analysis, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, DFMA.
- Experience in design FMEA and conducting technical review meetings.
- Experience with high-power and large-size UPS systems is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical part/product design and validation/verification of electro-mechanical concepts.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and technical innovation.
- Ability to work in cross-cultural and cross-functional global teams.
- Experience in ECO design and QVE activities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Mechanical engineering degree.
- Minimum 8 years in design and application engineering.
- Minimum 3 years in cooling design for data centers is desirable.
- Good English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Understanding of cooling components.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline engineering team.
- Familiarity with Schneider Electric portfolio.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools, REVIT, and CREO.
