Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 7–10 years of ME/UK water and wastewater experience to lead design and analysis for water treatment facilities. You will develop technical reports, perform hydraulic calculations, and produce design documentation for MEA projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to present project work at meetings.

Degree-qualified with a mechanical engineering. You will have Middle East (ME)/ UK water/wastewater industry experience with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience. Your role

• Technically competent and ability to use engineering judgement independently to determine solutions
• Prepare Technical Reports of acceptable technical quality with minimum guidance.
• Apply new ideas/digital ideas to improve solutions and processes to improve efficiency.
• Receive on-the-job technical training through performing tasks with minimum supervision.
• Good knowledge of work procedures and ensure work adheres to procedures.
• Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost.
• Able to work as a reliable and proactive member of the team, able to apply knowledge gained.
• Able to work on several projects, and to communicate clearly with a range of people, including making presentations. Flexible and enthusiastic; team player.
• Conversant with MS Office tools.
• Experience of working on Middle East is must and desirable if he has worked on UK, and USA.

• A sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in Water, Wastewater treatment plant processes, and pumping stations.
• Experience in the production of design documentation including optioneering reports and specifications of mechanical equipment.
• Experience in producing design calculations of mechanical equipment for Water and Wastewater treatment plants.
• Familiar with working to design national and international codes and industry standards appropriate for the Water and Wastewater industry.
• Ability to produce hydraulic calculations for mechanical equipment, equipment datasheets/specifications, and schedules.
• Good knowledge in designing all pumping stations &storage tanks covering Potable water, chlorination facility, Fire, storm, Irrigation and sewage in line with MEA authority guidelines, requirements and capable of doing pump room equipment selection using online selection tool along with understanding of appropriate pumps selection as per application.
• He/she should be conversant with various water/wastewater treatment mechanical equipment such as inlet works (screens, grit chamber), etc), filters, primary/secondary clarifiers, aeration systems, RAS, WAS pump station, Digestor, etc. He/she should be also well versed with piping material used in the water/wastewater treatment process.
• Pipe sizing calculations, pump sizing calculations, wet well/reservoir sizing calculations.
• General Arrangement drawings for piping and mechanical equipment. Isometric drawings. P&IDs, PFDs, etc.
• Good knowledge in pump room HVAC system and calculations.
• Basic knowledge of sewage treatment plant design and selection of various package system.
• Experience in Surge/Water Hammer transient analysis and Pipe stress analysis in CAESAR II software would be an added advantage.
• Software- AutoCAD working knowledge is essential and Revit would be an added advantage. Should have a working knowledge of 3D Models etc.
