Job summary

Omnivore is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with 1+ years of hands-on experience to design and validate mechanical components and assemblies. You will work with 3D CAD tools, create drawings and BOMs, and collaborate across functions to meet design and quality goals.

You will prototype, test, and iterate designs, plan mechanical tests, and document results while ensuring manufacturability and cost targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design and testing.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, etc.).
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, fabrication, injection molding, or casting.
• Experience with prototype development and mechanical testing.
• Familiarity with engineering materials and material selection.
• Basic understanding of tolerance stack-up and design calculations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software (Fusion 360).
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Develop concepts and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
• Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes.
• Plan and execute mechanical tests, validation, and performance evaluations.
• Analyze test results and recommend design improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis for design or product failures and implement corrective actions.
