Our Client is looking for a mechanically strong engineer who can take ownership of assigned machine modules and progressively own complete mechanical subsystems—from understanding the requirement and developing concepts through detailed design, fabrication, assembly, testing and design release. The person should be more than a CAD operator: he/she should
understand why a design works, how it will be manufactured, and how to troubleshoot it when the machine does not perform as expected.
Ideal technical profile
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in machine design, special-purpose machinery, industrial automation, equipment development or a closely related field.
- Experience personally designing mechanical assemblies or machine modules from concept through working prototype; exposure to production release is strongly preferred.
- Strong fundamentals in machine design, mechanics, engineering calculations, component sizing, materials, fits, tolerances and practical GD&T.
- Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks preferred), including part modelling, assemblies, engineering drawings, BOMs and design revisions.
- Practical understanding of mechanisms, linear motion, bearings, shafts, couplings, actuators, pneumatics, machining, fabrication, assembly and manufacturability.
- Ability to investigate failures systematically, identify root causes and implement practical design improvements rather than simply making CAD changes.
- Experience with pumps, valves, metering, fluid handling or dispensing mechanisms is particularly valuable.
Academic profile
- BE/B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering required; preference for reputable institutions with strong mechanical engineering departments, including IITs, NITs, IIITDMs, established government and other respected engineering colleges.
- ME/M.Tech. in Machine Design, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering or closely related specialisation is highly preferred, but not compulsory.
Key responsibilities
- Design mechanical parts, assemblies and machine modules based on application and system requirements.
- Develop concepts, mechanisms, layouts and detailed designs; perform basic engineering calculations and component selection.
- Prepare accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs and design documentation.
- Work with production, procurement, vendors and senior engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable, practical and cost-effective.
- Take increasing ownership of complete modules/subsystems and eventually complete machines as capability develops.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Lead, CTO and automation/electrical/software teams.
What success looks like
- Assigned designs are delivered on time with accurate drawings, BOMs and documentation.
- Designs work reliably in prototype and production environments with low rework.
- The engineer understands the physical machine—not just the CAD model—and actively participates in fabrication, assembly and testing.
- Problems are approached through engineering analysis and structured troubleshooting rather than trial-and-error redesign.
- The engineer progressively takes ownership of larger and more complex machine modules.
- Within a few years, the person is capable of independently driving substantial mechanical development work.
