Job summary

PetroBot Technologies Pvt Ltd in Jaipur is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Design & On-Site Support) to join our robotics team. The role blends design engineering with hands-on field problem-solving, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting complex electro-mechanical systems.

You will use SolidWorks for 3D models and drawings, prototype parts with 3D printing, and travel to customer sites to test and optimize designs, collaborating with software, electrical, and manufacturing

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 1 year core experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and complex assemblies is mandatory.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printing and prototyping.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for on-site support.

Responsibilities

• Design and model components and assemblies using SolidWorks.

Mechanical Design Engineer (Design & On-Site Support)

PetroBot Technologies is a robotic technology start-up located in Jaipur. Our flagship product is the PetroBot ITIS Rover, which is a remotely-operated robotic crawler that carries out on-stream inspection of hydrocarbon storage tanks. We also offer the MagRover, a remotely-operated wall-climbing robot for external inspection of industrial equipment. Role Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer position designs product applications and assemblies with multidisciplinary project teams. This role is a perfect blend of design engineering and practical on-site problem-solving. The position is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting highly complex engineering projects, as well as deploying and optimizing systems.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Design & Modelling: Use SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of precision electro-mechanical systems, fixtures, and components.
• Prototyping & 3D Printing: Operate 3D printers and utilize rapid prototyping technologies to fabricate, test, and validate component parts.
• On-Site Operations: Deploy systems at customer locations, operate robotic/industrial equipment, and test designs under dynamic field conditions.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex problems in manufacturing, assembly, and field-use directly at the site.
• Documentation: Create, manage, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM), manufacturing blueprints, and comprehensive product user documentation.
• Collaboration: Coordinate closely with software, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure all technical and functional requirements are met.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

Required Education and Experience:

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline (such as Mechatronics or Production Engineering).
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of core experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Software Skill: Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and complex assemblies is strictly mandatory.
• Technical Skill: Practical, hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies and prototyping.
• On-Site Flexibility: Fully comfortable traveling to customer sites and working in dynamic, hands-on field environments.
• Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and production fabrication processes.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
• Experience designing sealed enclosures for electronics and sensors.
• Basic understanding of machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
