Job summary

Xylem Water Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in India to design process equipment systems, including piping, panels, valves, and instrumentation. The role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and timely delivery across the order cycle.

You will execute sizing and detailed design, review specifications, and prepare fabrication drawings while interfacing with regional teams to meet project requirements. 0-3 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 0-3 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred; Creo/Inventor welcome; AutoCAD knowledge).
• Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design process equipment systems including piping, control panels, valves, instrumentation.
• Execute equipment sizing/selection and detailed design for order projects.
• Review contract specifications/plans.
• Prepare OM Manual, BOM, and cost estimation.
• Prepare and review 2D/3D CAD models, submittal and fabrication drawings.
• Provide engineering support across the order cycle, from design through fabrication and delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Independently manage assigned tasks, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely completion.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Engineering project team to design process equipment systems including process piping, control panel, valves, instrumentation, and other project relevant equipment.
• Work well with a team, communicate clearly internally and externally and be very organized and detail oriented.
• Execute equipment sizing/selection and detailed design for order engineering projects.
• Review contract specifications/plans
• Preparation of OM Manual, Bill of Materials, and cost estimation
• Prepare and review 2D/3D CAD models, submittal and fabrication drawings, and manufacturing deliverables.
• Provide engineering support across the order cycle, from design through fabrication and delivery.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Independently manage assigned tasks, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely completion.

Must Have

• Proficiency in at least one CAD platform: Solidworks preferred; Creo/Inventor welcome.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of mechanical system design, application, and manufacturing.

Good to Have

• Knowledge of piping/structural design and GDT.
• Knowledge of UV, aeration and wastewater treatment systems
• Experience with water/wastewater projects and OEM environments.
• Familiarity with engineering submittals, fabrication processes, and shop drawings.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and regions.

• 0-3 years of progressive experience in the relevant field
• Exposure to fabrication/manufacturing drawings and submittal processes preferred.
• Knowledge of various water treatment technologies and technological advancements.
