Job summary

Siemens Gamesa in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design equipment and tools for lifting, transportation, and installation of wind turbine components. Expect to perform basic structural calculations and preliminary FEM validation during concept development.

You will create 2D manufacturing drawings using Siemens NX, manage BOMs and inspection specs, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results under tight timelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years overall experience in mechanical design is typical for this level.
• Experience in design and development of medium to large-scale steel structures is desired.
• Proficiency in 2D manufacturing drawings using NX and related tooling.
• Knowledge of PLM processes and Teamcenter will aid in program execution.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop equipment and tools for lifting, transportation, and installation of wind turbine components.
• Create 2D manufacturing drawings for sheet metal, welded fabrications, and assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Perform basic structural load calculations, load path evaluations, and preliminary FEM validation during concept development.
• Maintain BOM, Material Masters and inspection specifications for wind turbine components.

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design and development of equipment and tools for lifting, transportation, pre-assembly, and installation of wind turbine components/assemblies will be an added advantage. Ability to perform basic structural load calculations, load path evaluations, rigging calculations, and preliminary FEM validation during concept development.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Minimum 5 years of overall experience, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in the wind energy industry preferred.
• Proven experience in the design and development of medium to large-scale steel structures.
• Strong expertise in the design of bolted, welded, and sheet metal structures.
• Proficient in creating 2D manufacturing drawings for sheet metal, welded fabrications, and assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Good understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and Teamcenter.
• Sound knowledge of GD&T/GPS standards and tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Good understanding of DFMEA and design risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience in creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM), Material Masters, and inspection specifications for wind turbine components.
