Caterpillar Inc. seeks a senior professional to manage the India supplier base supporting the IDC and Caterpillar's global aftermarket network.

You will ensure supplier performance, material availability, and customer service by partnering with suppliers, procurement, logistics, and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Lead performance management for the India supplier base, ensuring delivery, quality, capacity, and service expectations.
  • Drive material availability and support customer service commitments by proactively managing supply risks.
  • Lead recovery plans for critical shortages, backorders, and high-priority orders to minimize impact.
  • Partner with suppliers to improve on-time delivery, lead times, capacity readiness, and overall supply chain performance.
  • Analyze demand, inventory, shipment, and supplier performance data to identify trends and risks.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Inventory Management, APS, and global stakeholders to resolve supply chain challenges.
  • Monitor supplier capacity and develop mitigation strategies for business growth and fluctuations.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews, manage escalations, and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain professionals with accountability and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership updates on supplier performance, backorder exposure, inventory health and risk mitigation.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing the India supply base that supports the India Distribution Center (IDC) and Caterpillar's global aftermarket network. This role ensures supplier performance, material availability, and customer service excellence by partnering with suppliers, procurement, logistics, and internal stakeholders. The position leads efforts to mitigate supply risks, improve supplier delivery performance, reduce backorders, and support Caterpillar's commitment to customers.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead performance management for the India supplier base, ensuring suppliers meet delivery, quality, capacity, and service expectations.
  • Drive material availability and support customer service commitments by proactively managing supply risks and constraints.
  • Lead recovery plans for critical shortages, backorders, and high-priority customer orders to minimize business impact.
  • Partner with suppliers to improve on-time delivery, lead times, capacity readiness, and overall supply chain performance.
  • Analyze demand, inventory, shipment, and supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Inventory Management, APS, and global stakeholders to resolve supply chain challenges.
  • Monitor supplier capacity and develop mitigation strategies to support business growth, demand fluctuations, and supply disruptions.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews, manage escalations, and drive corrective actions to achieve sustainable performance improvements.
  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on supplier performance, backorder exposure, inventory health, risk mitigation plans, and key supply chain initiatives.

  • Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
  • Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
  • Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
  • Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.
Logistics Management

Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

  • Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
  • Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
  • Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
  • Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
  • Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
