About U.Labs

U.Labs is a Mumbai-based venture studio that builds, scales, and invests in the next generation of businesses. We operate as strategic co-builders, combining business strategy, technology, AI, brand, and growth to help founders and companies move from idea to execution at speed.

You will work across StackBack.ai, The Founder's Cut, The Hows of Things, and other AI, SaaS, enterprise and portfolio products being built and scaled at U.Labs as well as our other Media IPs.

We think like founders, build like engineers, and grow like marketers.

About The Role

This role is for someone who is studying engineering, or has recently graduated as an engineer, but is deeply interested in marketing, consumer behaviour and understanding why people behave the way they do online.

You like data, but you do not want to analyse numbers in isolation.

You want to understand why one video gets 2 million views while another gets 20,000. Why someone stops scrolling. Why certain hooks repeatedly work. Why an ad converts on Meta but fails on LinkedIn. Why people click but do not buy. Why a particular message resonates with one audience and completely misses another.

This is not a traditional analyst internship.

It is not a social media management role.

And it is not a marketing internship where your job is to simply post content, run campaigns and report impressions at the end of the month.

You will work directly with the founders and marketing team to understand customer behaviour, analyse content and acquisition data, identify patterns, form hypotheses, and turn those insights into better marketing decisions.

You Could Be Working On Questions Like
  • What makes someone stop scrolling and watch a piece of content?
  • Which hooks, formats, topics and narratives consistently outperform?
  • How do social algorithms reward different kinds of content?
  • What should we create more of, and what should we stop creating?
  • Why did one creative generate leads at half the cost of another?
  • Which audience, platform and message combinations are actually driving business outcomes?
  • What are customers talking about, searching for and reacting to in our markets?
  • What can we learn from competitors, creators and emerging cultural behaviour before everyone else does?

Your job is to find patterns in how people behave and translate those patterns into decisions.

What You'll Do
Content & Social Behaviour Analysis
  • Analyse content performance across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, X and other relevant platforms
  • Study hooks, formats, topics, narratives, retention, engagement and distribution patterns
  • Identify why certain pieces of content outperform others
  • Track changes in platform algorithms, content formats and audience behaviour
  • Analyse competitors, creators and brands to understand what is gaining attention and why
  • Turn findings into clear recommendations for content themes, hooks, formats and creative direction
  • Help build repeatable frameworks for what we should create, test and distribute
Paid Media & Performance Marketing
  • Manage and run campaigns across Meta Ads, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads and other relevant platforms
  • Set up campaigns, audiences, creatives, tracking and experiments
  • Monitor spend, performance and conversion metrics
  • Analyse CAC, CPL, CTR, CPC, conversion rates and other relevant metrics
  • Identify which creatives, messages, audiences and channels are driving results
  • Run structured experiments across creative, targeting, messaging and landing pages
  • Build regular reporting around performance and recommend where budgets should be increased, reduced or reallocated
Marketing Analytics & Consumer Behaviour
  • Analyse the complete journey from impression and click through to lead, conversion and revenue
  • Build dashboards and reporting systems across marketing channels
  • Identify patterns in customer behaviour across different audiences, categories and platforms
  • Study funnel drop-offs and identify opportunities to improve conversion
  • Connect qualitative behaviour with quantitative performance data
  • Turn large amounts of marketing data into simple, actionable conclusions
Market & Customer Research
  • Conduct research across markets, competitors, customers, categories and emerging trends
  • Study customer conversations, reviews, communities, search behaviour and social discussions to identify pain points and motivations
  • Identify new audience segments, positioning opportunities and emerging consumer behaviour
  • Turn fragmented information into clear insights that can inform marketing, product and business decisions
Who You Are
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in engineering, computer science or another technical discipline
  • Deeply interested in marketing, consumer psychology, internet culture and how people make decisions
  • Naturally analytical and comfortable looking for patterns in large amounts of information
  • Curious about why content spreads and how social platforms distribute information
  • Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, dashboards and datasets
  • Able to form hypotheses, test them and change your mind based on what the data says
  • Strong at researching unfamiliar topics and turning information into clear conclusions
  • Comfortable with tools such as Excel / Google Sheets and ideally SQL or other analytical tools
  • Extremely comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar tools for research and analysis
  • Strong written communication and able to explain an insight without hiding behind marketing jargon
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out without a detailed playbook

Most importantly, you are obsessively curious about why things work.

You should be the kind of person who sees a viral video and wants to understand why it went viral.

Who Notices The First Three Seconds Of An Ad.

Who compares five landing pages before buying something.

Who wonders why Instagram suddenly starts pushing one content format.

Who sees a campaign outperform and wants to break down exactly what caused it.

We care considerably more about how you think, analyse and learn than your CGPA or previous job titles.

Good to Have
Experience With The Following Is Great
  • Meta Ads Manager
  • Google Ads
  • LinkedIn Campaign Manager
  • Google Analytics
  • Google Search Console
  • SQL / Python
  • Social listening or content analytics tools
  • SEO / keyword research tools
What You'll Get
  • Direct mentorship from the founders, with no layers or bureaucracy
  • Exposure to how marketing decisions are actually made across content, paid acquisition, positioning and growth
  • Work across U.Labs, StackBack.ai, The Founder's Cut, The Hows of Things and other AI, SaaS, enterprise and portfolio products along with our Media IPs.
  • Ownership of real marketing budgets, campaigns and experiments
  • Access to real customer, content and acquisition data from day one
  • The opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, analytics, consumer behaviour and marketing
  • Freedom to challenge assumptions and test your own hypotheses
  • A strong recommendation and network access that compounds for years
  • A guaranteed full-time offer for interns who meet the performance bar
One Last Thing
Most Engineers Are Taught How To Understand Systems.
Marketing is also a system, except the variables are people.

Attention, emotion, curiosity, trust, incentives, algorithms and behaviour all influence what happens next.

If you are an engineer who finds those systems just as interesting as technical ones, and you want to understand marketing from first principles rather than simply learn how to operate marketing tools, we want to meet you.
