Job summary

Applied Materials India in Bangalore seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support ECO/ECR activities in our manufacturing operations. You will review drawings, coordinate with EC teams, and ensure accurate BOMs while driving continuous improvement in the ECO cycle.

This role requires a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, 2–4 years of experience, and familiarity with CAD tools. Relocation and travel are possible within a global leader in materials engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Excellent reading & understanding of manufacturing drawings.
  • Exposure to CAD tools (UG/Solid Works/Pro‑E/AutoCAD/Inventor).
  • Prioritizes review of ECOs and expedites ECO release in implementation cycle.
  • Review ECOs for content completeness, BOM, customer/organizational impact.
  • Log issues and return the ECR to the EC Engineer to address the issue.
  • Coordinate with EC approvers and ensure appropriate CIB members are included on ECO.
  • Communicate logged issues with EC Analysts or EC engineers to ensure ECO correctness.
  • Analyze part structures to determine scope/impact of changes; conduct where-used searches.
  • Train ECO participants and advise on solutions; mediate conflicts.
  • Evaluate ECO process for continuous improvement; assist KPI development.
  • Participate in ECM awareness sessions.

Role Responsibilities
  • Excellent reading & understanding of the manufacturing drawings.
  • Exposure to any 3D modeling tool (UG/Solid Works/Pro‑E/AutoCAD/Inventor)
  • Prioritizes review of ECOs and expedites release of ECO in the implementation cycle.
  • Review ECOs for content completeness, structure of Bill of Materials, customer impact (internal and external), organizational impact, and functional product impact.
  • Log issues and return the ECR to the EC Engineer to address the issue.
  • Coordinate with other impacted EC approver; verify that appropriate CIB (Change Implementation Board) members are included on the ECO based on Product Family, Product Line, Change Category, planner/buyer and product option tree, as applicable.
  • Communicate logged issues with EC Analysts or EC engineers to ensure correctness of the ECO.
  • Analyze part structure to determine the scope/impact of product changes; conduct where‑used searches.
  • Train/coaches ECO participants in their functional areas; advise participants on possible solutions for ECO related problems, issues or situations; routinely mediate conflicts between ECO participants.
  • Evaluate ECO process for continuous improvement opportunities; assist in KPI development and document the process.
  • Regularly participate in ECM awareness sessions.
  • Corp doc’s/ Material Specification doc’s release/updates as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2–4 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem‑solving on the job.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly explain complex information to others.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and track ECO/ECR’s.
  • Ability to identify errors in ECO/ECR documentation.
  • Ability to understand/modify/define the Product/System configurations; well versed with manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Demonstrated computer skills to include MS Office or other software/systems necessary for the job execution in day‑to‑day transactions.
  • Knowledge of PDM and BOMs & item master theory.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and materials, including basic lean.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and cleanroom protocol.
  • Knowledge of cross‑cultural communications.
