Job summary

Regal Rexnord in India (Mumbai) is seeking an engineer to design and develop assembly processes, jigs, fixtures and gauges for new product introductions in the fast-growing Portescap division. You will work with design teams to map processes and investments for production readiness, while improving time-to-market and quality.

The role requires 5–6 years of BE in Mechanical/Production, hands-on experience in DFA, and familiarity with ISO standards, PPAP and lean methods.

Qualifications

• BE in Mechanical or Production with 5-6 years of experience.
• Must have assembly process design and DFA knowledge.
• Experience with ISO standards and PPAP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop assembly processes, jigs, fixtures and gauges for new products.
• Collaborate with Design to map production processes and equipment.
• Support manufacturing on critical-to-quality projects for better uptime.
• Track rolled throughput yield for first five production lots (>095%).
• Ensure smooth proto-to-production transitions for new products.
• Implement PPAP with MSF, flow charts, standard work, control plans, FMEAs.
• Work with Operations to execute projects.

Job description

Work Model: This is a fully onsite role, with work performed at your designated Regal Rexnord office.

Summary

This position will support the Engineering team for the India business, one of the fastest growing segments within Portescap. Position is responsible to design and develop the new processes and procurement of new equipment needed for New Product development, to see that Engineering team improves its responsiveness in meeting customer requirements of Time & Quality through timely execution of projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Design and develop the Assembly process, Jigs, fixtures & gauges for new products associated with Motor, Gear box and encoders.
• Work closely with Design Team to ensure Design for Assembly (DFA) during Design process as well as for mapping new manufacturing processes & Equipment. Estimate the required capabilities and investment for production volumes.
• Support manufacturing on critical to quality process projects to implement new technologies to improve existing equipment/processes for sustainable quality.
• Continuously track & improve Rolled throughput yield of first five production lots of New Products (>95%).
• Responsible for smooth transition of new products from proto to production stage.
• Responsible for implementing PPAP including Manufacturing Flow Charts, Standard Work, procedures, Route sheets, Control Plans and FMEAs as prescribed by ISO standards and RBS.
• Work with close partnership with Operations for executing the projects.

Functional Competencies

• Knowledge and hands on experience in assembly process design and development, Jigs and Fixtures Development, Process validation and problem solving and monitoring tools.
• Electric Motor assembly & Measurement equipment concept finalization, selection of suppliers & Procurement activities.
• Hands-on experience in 2D drawing (AutoCAD) & 3D modeling (Pro-E, Solid works) with GD&T. Jigs / Fixtures material selection.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing methods and/or Six Sigma.
• In depth knowledge of using the Problem-solving tools (8D, DoE, C&E Diagram) to arrive at the sustainable solution.

Education And Experience Requirements

• B.E. (Mechanical / Production Engineering) with minimum 5-6 years of experience.
