Job Position Summary

The Manager QCD is a senior‑level supervisory position in the Marine Catering division of Fleet Management Ltd. The candidate is responsible for overseeing the overall victualling (food supply & on‑board catering) management of a list/pool of merchant (cargo) ships assigned to them, along with a team of catering executives and/or purchasers who may directly or indirectly report to them.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Oversee the overall victualling management of a set of merchant vessels.
2. Lead a team of catering and/or procurement executives, senior executives, and assistant managers; guide and groom them on a day‑to‑day basis.
3. Plan provisions supplies and on‑board menus.
4. Scrutinise and sanction all provision orders received from the ships in strict adherence to available budgets.
5. Watch costs, control costs and initiate revenue‑generating measures to ensure ships stay within allocated budgets.
6. Maintain quality control through provisions supplies and on‑board service delivery.
7. Visit ships for catering and housekeeping inspections when necessary or feasible.
8. Plan better client relationship management and ensure timely redressal of customer grievances.
9. Initiate training and/or team‑building activities for the team.
10. Prepare various MIS reports for routine management submission.

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

1. Degree holder in Hotel/Hospitality Management with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in marine catering, offshore catering, merchant ship saloon section, hotels or industrial catering.
2. An MBA in hospitality, management or supply chain management is an added advantage, but not mandatory.
3. Experience leading a team; the last couple of years must have been in a managerial or assistant‑managerial role.
4. Preference given to candidates with experience sailing on board merchant ships or passenger ships.
