Job summary

Madras Pharmaceuticals in Chennai – Manufacturing Plant is seeking a Manager / Sr. Manager HR & Administration with 15–20 years of experience to lead Plant HR operations and employee relations.

The role oversees statutory compliance, recruitment, performance management, payroll, and HR policy administration within a manufacturing setting, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to labour laws while driving people development and engagement.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in HR / Personnel Management / MSW / MBA-HR or equivalent.
• 15–20 years of relevant experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical / Manufacturing industry.
• Strong expertise in Plant HR, HR Operations, Statutory Compliance and Industrial Relations.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
• Strong employee-handling, conflict-resolution and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing plant environment and handle high-pressure situations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Languages: Excellent English communication and good command of Tamil is essential. Hindi-speaking ability will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end HR operations, employee relations, grievance handling, employee engagement and welfare activities.
• Ensure 100% compliance with applicable labour laws, factory laws and statutory requirements. Maintain audit-ready records and coordinate with government authorities.
• Manpower & Recruitment: Manage manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding and workforce deployment for permanent and contract employees.
• Performance & Training: Drive performance management, training, development and employee capability-building initiatives.
• Industrial Relations: Manage employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievance resolution and industrial relations in a manufacturing environment.
• Compensation & Payroll: Oversee compensation, benefits, annual increments, promotions and payroll activities.
• HR Policies & Administration: Implement HR policies and procedures aligned with business requirements and ensure effective communication across all levels.
• Management Systems: Coordinate HR requirements related to QMS, EMS, OHS and other applicable management systems.
