About the Role
We are looking for a data-driven and business-oriented Manager S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) to drive the alignment between Sales & Business Development and Operations. The role will be responsible for translating business plans, sales pipelines, and customer demand into actionable volume forecasts and operational plans.
The position will work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Network Planning, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the organization is adequately prepared to meet customer demand while optimizing capacity, cost, service levels, and profitability.
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and stakeholder management skills, a good understanding of logistics operations, and the ability to convert business data into actionable insights and plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Own the S&OP demand planning process for the business, including short-, medium-, and long-term volume forecasting.
- Consolidate forecasts from Sales/BD teams across clients, geographies, products, and service lines.
- Analyze historical shipment trends, seasonality, customer behavior, sales pipeline, and market trends to improve forecast accuracy.
- Track actual vs. forecasted volumes and identify key variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop account-level and business-level demand forecasts to support operational readiness.
2. Sales & Operations Alignment
- Act as the key interface between Sales/BD and Operations to align customer acquisition plans and expected business volumes with operational capacity.
- Translate sales pipeline and expected client onboarding into operational requirements.
- Identify potential capacity constraints across hubs, warehouses, delivery networks, manpower, vehicles, and other operational resources.
- Work with Operations and Network Planning teams to develop mitigation plans for anticipated demand spikes or capacity gaps.
- Ensure timely communication of major volume changes, new client launches, campaigns, and seasonal requirements.
3. Capacity & Network Planning
- Support capacity planning based on forecasted shipment volumes and business growth plans.
- Evaluate capacity requirements across surface, air, first-mile, mid-mile, last-mile, warehousing, and other logistics operations, as applicable.
- Partner with Operations to ensure manpower, fleet, hub, sortation, and delivery capacity is aligned with projected demand.
- Identify under-utilized and over-utilized capacity and recommend corrective actions.
- Support network optimization initiatives based on volume trends and business requirements.
4. Business Planning & Sales Support
- Work closely with Sales/BD teams to evaluate the operational feasibility of new business opportunities.
- Provide data-backed inputs for RFPs, large client acquisitions, new launches, and business expansion plans.
- Support Sales in evaluating expected volumes, serviceability, operational requirements, pricing assumptions, and cost implications.
- Build business scenarios for potential client wins, volume ramp-ups, new geographies, and new products/services.
- Highlight operational and financial risks associated with aggressive growth plans.
5. Performance Management & Analytics
- Develop and maintain dashboards covering:
- Forecast vs. actual volumes
- Client-wise / segment-wise volume trends
- Capacity utilization
- New business ramp-up
- Client onboarding performance
- Network readiness
- Service-level performance
- Revenue and shipment trends
- Conduct variance analysis and identify root causes for deviations.
- Track key S&OP KPIs and drive corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide regular business insights and recommendations to leadership.
6. S&OP Governance
- Establish and manage a structured monthly / weekly S&OP cadence involving Sales, Operations, Finance, and relevant business stakeholders.
- Prepare S&OP review decks and facilitate discussions around demand, supply/capacity, risks, gaps, and action plans.
- Maintain a clear view of business risks and dependencies across functions.
- Drive closure of action items arising from S&OP reviews.
- Continuously improve forecasting methodologies, planning processes, and governance mechanisms.
7. Cross-functional Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Network Planning, Product, Customer Experience, and Leadership teams.
- Build strong relationships with Sales/BD teams to improve visibility of the pipeline and expected business volumes.
- Partner with Operations to ensure adequate readiness for committed and forecasted business.
- Communicate key business risks and capacity constraints proactively to senior stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in S&OP, demand planning, business planning, supply chain planning, sales planning, or a similar role.
- Prior experience in logistics, e-commerce, supply chain, express delivery, 3PL, last-mile delivery, quick commerce, or a related industry preferred.
- Strong understanding of demand forecasting, capacity planning, and business planning.
- Experience working closely with Sales/BD and Operations teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI / SQL / data visualization tools would be an advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate analysis into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong commercial understanding with the ability to connect volume, revenue, capacity, cost, and profitability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambiguity and changing business priorities.
