Job summary

Raghu Vamsi Aerospace, Hyderabad is seeking a Manager / Senior Manager – Supply Chain & Raw Materials to lead sourcing of raw materials, tooling and consumables for aerospace, Oil & Gas and industrial production. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; relevant industry experience matters more than the degree stream.
• 12–18 years in raw material/tooling & consumables sourcing and supply chain management, preferably in aerospace/defense.
• Strong knowledge of specialty materials used in aerospace manufacturing and related certification requirements.
• Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP and material traceability; supplier governance experience.
• Proven negotiation skills and experience managing long-term contracts and price/lead-time risk.
• Analytical, data-driven with ERP/MRP proficiency; able to forecast and plan with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end planning and procurement of raw materials, cutting tools and consumables for aerospace, Oil & Gas and industrial programs.
• Take ownership of specialty and critical materials with long lead times to ensure uninterrupted supply.
• Develop and manage a qualified supplier base with certifications, traceability and specifications adherence.
• Partner with Planning, Engineering, Quality and Production to translate schedules into material plans, avoid stock-outs and minimize excess.
• Lead sourcing strategy for critical items including dual-sourcing, forward buying and risk mitigation.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and long-term supply agreements with mills, distributors and tooling vendors.
• Ensure all incoming material has correct certification and compliance with AS9100/NADCAP and customer requirements.
• Monitor cost trends, lead times, supplier performance and inventory health; drive corrective actions.
• Identify cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities in sourcing without compromising quality.
• Build contingency plans and safety stock strategies; mentor a small team of buyers/planners.

Role Purpose

The Manager / Senior Manager – Supply Chain & Raw Materials will be responsible for ensuring reliable, cost-effective and compliant sourcing of raw materials, tools and consumables – with particular criticality around specialty materials used in aerospace-grade manufacturing – in support of production schedules across the Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Industrial businesses. The role calls for strong material and market knowledge, sharp negotiation ability and the maturity to operate in a fast-paced, precision-manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end planning and procurement of raw materials, cutting tools and consumables required for aerospace, oil & gas and industrial production programs.
• Take particular ownership of specialty and critical materials – ensuring uninterrupted, compliant supply given their long lead times and criticality to production.
• Develop and manage a robust, qualified supplier base across raw materials, tooling and consumables, ensuring adherence to certifications, traceability and industry/customer specifications.
• Partner with Planning, Engineering, Quality and Production teams to translate production schedules into accurate material and tooling requirement plans, avoiding stock-outs and minimising excess/obsolete inventory.
• Lead sourcing strategy for critical and long-lead-time items, including dual-sourcing, forward buying and risk mitigation for supply volatility (price, availability, market constraints).
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and long-term supply agreements with mills, distributors, tooling vendors and service centres to secure cost, quality and delivery commitments.
• Ensure all incoming material and tooling is accompanied by correct certification and drive compliance with AS9100 / NADCAP and customer quality requirements.
• Monitor and report on cost trends, lead times, supplier performance (OTIF, quality, responsiveness) and inventory health; drive corrective actions where required.
• Identify and implement cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities in sourcing without compromising quality or delivery.
• Build contingency and business-continuity plans for critical material and tooling supply, including alternate sources and safety stock strategies.
• Mentor and develop a small team of buyers/planners; instil discipline in forecasting, PO management and supplier governance.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent; a specific specialisation is not essential – strong, relevant industry experience matters more than the degree stream.
• 12–18 years of experience in raw material / tooling & consumables sourcing and supply chain management, with a significant portion in aerospace, defence, oil & gas or other precision/regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong, demonstrable working knowledge of specialty materials used in aerospace-grade manufacturing, along with raw materials, cutting tools and consumables more broadly – including sourcing markets, forms and certification requirements.
• Prior exposure to similar industries – aerospace component manufacturing, oil & gas equipment, or other precision engineering sectors – with an established supplier network.
• Sound understanding of AS9100, NADCAP and customer-specific material and quality requirements; experience with material traceability and certification management.
• Sharp, proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts, long-term agreements and price/lead-time risk.
• Smart, sharp and commercially astute, with strong analytical and planning capability; comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Production and Finance.
• High personal integrity, ownership and a proactive, hands-on approach suited to a growing, high-precision manufacturing environment.
