Job description

Job Purpose

The Senior Manager, External Supplier Quality Digitalization & Analytics leads the digital and analytics agenda for external quality oversight across the external supplier and CMO network, combining quality-compliance expertise with hands‑on digital and analytics capability.

Rather than building every solution personally, the role holder guides the External Quality team’s digital transformation – identifying opportunities to simplify and accelerate quality processes, delivering lighter‑weight analytics and automation directly where the team can self‑serve (for example Power BI dashboards and AI/Copilot Studio agents), and, for solutions that need dedicated engineering (for example bots and autonomous agents), preparing process maps and business evaluations and partnering with the Technology organization to build, validate, and deploy them.

The aim is to improve external quality visibility, reduce manual effort, accelerate decisions, and surface quality and compliance risks earlier.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Transformation & Analytics
  • Guide the External Quality team’s digital agenda: identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and accelerate quality processes, priorities them, and shape a practical delivery roadmap.
  • Design and build lighter-weight solutions the team can own directly – Power BI dashboards, AI and Copilot Studio agents, and Power Platform automations – using available low-code / no-code tooling.
  • For solutions that require dedicated engineering (for example bots, autonomous agents, or full production deployment), prepare process maps, requirements, and business evaluations, and partner with the Technology organization to build, validate, and deploy them.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and KPI reporting for supplier performance, Quality Agreements, compliance documentation, overdue actions, inspection readiness, and supplier risk indicators.
  • Automate recurring reports, data consolidation, reminders, escalations, and workflow tracking using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Query, Power Apps, Copilot Studio) and SQL, or equivalent tools available in the business.
  • Consolidate, cleanse, analyze, and interpret external quality data to identify trends, recurring risks, compliance gaps, process bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support or lead digitalization and continuous improvement projects, driving adoption of new tools across the External Quality organization.
External Supplier Quality
  • Own process ownership and KPI oversight for Quality Agreements and Product Requirement Specifications with suppliers and CMOs.
  • Initiate, negotiate, complete, review, and maintain Quality Agreements within the assigned supplier's scope.
  • Maintain supplier information, External Auditee Records, Quality Agreement data, Product Requirement Specifications, and compliance‑document information in the applicable company quality systems.
  • Collect, review, track, and maintain supplier compliance documentation, including Compliance Documentation Questionnaires, BSE/TSE documentation, Nitrosamine Questionnaires, and other required records.
  • Identify, communicate, escalat<...>Support GSK sites during regulatory or customer inspections, as required.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal External Quality procedures, guidelines, and processes in line with the Quality Management System.
Ways of Working
  • Partner with Quality, Technology, Procurement, Site Quality, SQAC, R&D, the wider External Quality organization, and external suppliers to deliver governed, secure, validated, and user-focused digital solutions.
Essential Experience And Capabilities
  • 8-14 years of professional experience
  • Experience in External / Supplier Quality, Operational Quality, Quality Systems, Quality Compliance, or related regulated-quality function.
  • Experience working with suppliers, CMOs, or external manufacturing partners in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Hands‑on experience creating AI and Copilot Studio agents, Power BI dashboards, and Power Platform automations – with the judgement to know what can be delivered within the business and what is better scoped and handed to the Technology organization to build.
  • Strong capability in data extraction, cleansing, transformation, modelling, KPI development, visualization, interpretation, and insight generation.
  • Experience automating recurring reports and business processes using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Query, Power Apps, Copilot Studio) and SQL; familiarity with additional tools such as Python or RPA platforms is useful but not essential.
  • Ability to translate quality‑process requirements into practical digital solutions – including process mapping and business evaluation for the Technology organization – and to communicate insights clearly to senior and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Understanding data governance, information security, access management, validation, documentation, and controlled change in regulated environments.
Education & Selection
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will be considered where it demonstrates the ability to perform the role effectively.
  • Selection focuses on a demonstrable portfolio of delivered digital and analytics solutions, relevant experience from comparable roles, and practical skills assessed during interviews, rather than on formal certification.
  • Certification or formal learning in Power BI, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure AI, data analytics, SQL, Lean Six Sigma, or project / change management is a plus, but not required.
Success Measures
  • Adoption of AI / Copilot Studio agents, automated workflows, and Power BI dashboards within External Quality processes.
  • Reduced manual reporting effort and improved timeliness, consistency, accuracy, and traceability of external quality reporting.
  • Earlier visibility of external quality and compliance risks, with better tracking of Quality Agreements, compliance documents, and other obligations.
  • A clear, prioritized digital roadmap, with solutions either delivered within the team or successfully scoped and delivered together with the Technology organization.
  • Positive stakeholder adoption of dashboards, automated reports, and AI‑enabled tools.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Integrity, Digital Fluency, GxP Regulations, Influencing Without Authority, Pharmaceutical Regulatory Compliance, Problem Solving, Quality Assurance (QA), Risk Awareness, Supplier Auditing, Supplier Quality Management
