Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in India is seeking an experienced Engine Assembly Operations Supervisor to oversee and coordinate a complex production line, align with the production plan, and ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities include daily engine assembly operations, maintaining SOPs and control plans, monitoring line performance, coordinating materials, and training staff to uphold ISO9001/ISO14001 standards. A strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement per production targets.

  • Coordinate material availability (bolts, subassemblies, tools).
  • Ensure zero stoppages due to manpower, material, or machine issues.
  • Conduct daily safety audits and close actions.
  • Maintain DPRs, attendance, downtime, and quality defect logs.
  • Update training records, skill matrices, and process audits.
  • Ensure ISO9001 and ISO14001 documentation compliance.
  • Oversee daily activities of production line workers and coaching.
  • Train new hires, manage scheduling, and promote collaboration and continuous improvement.

Role Definition

Oversees and coordinates the activities of a more complex production line, prepares schedules, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards.

Experience – Engine Assembly 12 to 18 years
Responsibilities

Creating reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality.

Execute daily engine assembly operations as per production plan.

Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), torque charts, and control plans.

Monitor station-cycle time, line balancing, and resource utilization.

Coordinate material availability (bolts, washers, subassemblies, tools).

Ensure zero stoppages related to manpower, material, or machine issues.

Conduct daily safety audits and ensure action closure.

Maintain daily production reports (DPR), attendance, downtime logs.

Prepare quality reports – defects, rework, FTT, torque failures.

Update training records, skill matrix, and process audit scores.

Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and Iso 14001 documentation requirements.

Preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.

Supervising and directing the daily activities of production lines workers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.

Training new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
