Job summary

Apave International in Mumbai seeks an experienced Business Manager – Organic Certification to lead the growth of our Organic Certification services in India. You will drive strategy, expand the client base and ensure service excellence across APEDA/NPOP, EU, NOP standards.

The role requires deep knowledge of organic standards, strong stakeholder management and the ability to travel across India to build partnerships with producers, processors and exporters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Technology, Food Science, Environmental Science, Life Sciences or related field
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in Organic Certification or related industry
• Strong experience in business development, client management and team leadership
• Good knowledge of APEDA/NPOP, EU and NOP Organic certification requirements
• Willingness to travel extensively across India

We are looking for an experienced Business Manager – Organic Certification to be based in Mumbai, responsible for driving the growth and development of our Organic Certification business in India.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Organic Certification, business development and client management, with good knowledge of APEDA/NPOP, EU, NOP and other relevant organic certification standards.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for developing and managing the Organic Certification business in India, driving business growth, client acquisition, regulatory compliance and effective delivery of certification services covering APEDA/NPOP, EU, NOP and other applicable organic standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute the business strategy and growth plan for Organic Certification in India.
• Identify new markets, customers and business opportunities across organic agriculture, food processing, exports, supply chains and related sectors.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with organic producers, processors, exporters, traders, industry associations and key stakeholders.
• Drive lead generation, client acquisition, revenue growth, profitability and client retention.
• Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, business plans and revenue forecasts.
• Maintain strong knowledge of APEDA/NPOP, EU, NOP Organic and other relevant certification standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor changes in organic certification regulations, accreditation requirements and market trends and ensure business activities remain compliant.
• Coordinate with certification, inspection, audit and technical teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of certification services.
• Manage key client relationships, address escalations and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory, accreditation and industry bodies as required.
• Support internal and external audits, closure of findings and continuous improvement of certification processes.
• Manage business performance including revenue, pipeline, profitability and receivables.
• Lead and develop the Organic Certification team, including resource planning, recruitment, training and performance management.
• Represent the organization at relevant industry events, conferences, seminars and trade forums.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Technology, Food Science, Environmental Science, Life Sciences or related field.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in Organic Certification, conformity assessment, inspection, food/agriculture certification or a related industry.
• Strong experience in business development, client management and team leadership.
• Good knowledge of APEDA/NPOP, EU and NOP Organic certification requirements is essential.
• Experience with organic producers, processors, exporters or certification bodies will be preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India.
