Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. seeks an experienced hardware engineer with hands-on 48V motor drive and inverter expertise. You will analyze power electronics topologies, design analog/digital hardware, and validate with high-power devices.

Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, and PSIM is desirable, along with EMI/EMC knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. The role involves manufacturing readiness, PCB layout awareness, test equipment usage, and dyno testing for motor control units.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with 48V motor drive/inverter applications.
• Experience analysing topologies of power electronics converters (traction inverters, DC-DC).
• Hardware system design for analog & digital circuits.
• Knowledge of high-power devices (MOSFETs, SiC, DC link capacitors, gate drivers, microcontrollers).
• MOSFET testing including Double Pulse Test (DPT).
• Manufacturing readiness for new products (PCBA, EOL testing, calibration, supplier interactions).
• Modelling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, PSIM, including time/frequency domain analyses.
• Knowledge of CAN, LIN, RS232, SPI, I2C protocols.
• EMC/EMI testing standards such as AIS-004, CISPR25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637 series, ISO 10605.
• PCB layout considerations per IPC standards.
• Collaborating with mechanical, layout and firmware teams to validate designs.
• Using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and power supplies for testing.
• Strong communication, self-motivation, and analytical skills.
• Dyno test validations for motor control unit functionality and reliability.
• Diligent test documentation and setup recording.
• Willingness to travel across test facilities and vendor locations.

Job description

• Hands on experience in 48V systems for Motor drive/Inverter application (Power level- 5KW, 8KW, 10KW, 12KW, 15KW)
• Experience in analysingdifferent topologies of power electronics converters (Inverters for Traction systems, dc-dc converters)
• Experience in hardware system designfor analog & digital circuit
• Understanding all electronic components and high power devices (MOSFET[Si, SiC], DC Link capacitor, Gate drivers, Microcontroller)
• Device characterisations of Mosfet with Double pulse test (DPT)
• Manufacturing line readiness for new products (PCBA assembly process, EOL testing procedure, Calibration setup and Supplier interactions)
• Modelling, simulation analysis experience with tools like MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, PSIM, tools for time & frequency domain, tolerance, derating analysis
• Understanding on Digital Communication protocols like CAN, LIN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc.
• Through understanding, experience and knowledge on testing of EMI / EMC standards (AIS-004, CISPR25, ISO11452, ISO 7637-2, ISO 7637-3, ISO 10605)
• PCB layout, component placement and guidelines experience as per standards (IPC 2221, IPC 6012, IPC-A-610)
• Collaborate with mechanical, layout and firmware engineers to validate the designs
• Utilizes the support of automated testing, verification & validation tools (Oscilloscope, Power analyser, Power supplies)
• Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication skills, enthusiasm to perform and learn new activities
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, strong analytical & problem-solving skills
• Perform Dyno test validations for functional and reliability of Motor control unit.
• Documentation of test activities, procedure, test setup arrangements
• Willingness to travel across test facilities, manufacturing plant and vendor assembly locations
