Job summary

Signify is seeking a senior engineering leader in India to drive multi-disciplinary teams in the development of ambient and architectural lighting products. The role focuses on shaping ideas, leading cross-functional execution, and ensuring timely delivery for global engineering needs.

You will guide a diverse team, apply DFSS methodologies, and drive innovations across electronics, sensors, and IoT-enabled lighting solutions to sustain Signify’s competitive edge.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in leading multi-skilled engineering teams for new product development.
• Strong knowledge of ambient/architectural lighting, connected lighting, sensors, and CAD design.
• Experience with DFSS tools and NPD lifecycle.

What you’ll do

• Provides leadership for the team to meet its short and long term goals.
• Provide leadership to innovate new differentiating products and services. Lead innovation events to shape ideas from the team and contribute to MGTP and MGPPs.
• Lead strategic initiatives to improve the overall execution performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
• Develop and control the schedule and direct the work to effectively manage time. Monitor progress & achievements on projects. Provide regular reports on development & support activities
• Manage and develop people: identify, attract and develop key engineering talent for the organization.
• Recruits and retain a team of engineers and support staff to provide both local product development and engineering services to the global engineering needs. Train, develop & motivate subordinates to achieve their professional goals & review their accomplishments.
• Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and retention of employees.
• Support/Drive overall strategy for engineering team processes and capabilities to deliver high performance, on-time delivery in line with the business objectives & stakeholder needs.
• Conducts project reviews to requirement analysis and product design. Identification of risks, creating mitigation plans & analyzes errors and improvements.
• Demonstrates and leads Signify values and philosophies to sustain a culture of inclusiveness.
• Utilizes DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvements. Enrich & foster climate of innovation to drive growth & accelerate capability development and generate IP through disclosures and patents / trade secrets.
• Look for opportunities to expand/grow business, build customer relations, influence, negotiate to set realistic expectations with customers.

What you’ll need

• Bachelors / Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) 15+ Years of experience in leading multi skilled engineering team driving new product development.
• Sound knowledge on ambient and architectural lighting products, connected lighting and sensor integrations, experience in driving New Product development involving Sheet metal & Plastic design, 2D / 3D CAD package (Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD) and manufacturing.
• Should have strong knowledge about drawings, dimensioning standards, tolerance standards & stack-up, engineering calculations, complete system / component sizing, modeling and simulation, strong analytical skills - understanding mechanical stresses, fatigue life, part fits.
• Drive growth in respective team in terms of breadth and depth of capabilities in electrical and mechanical design as well as adjacent technology areas in product engineering.
• Proven track record of demonstrating competencies to manage a large and diverse team.
• Sound knowledge & demonstrated experience of complete product development life cycle on multiple projects including requirements, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification.
• Experience working with connected lighting products involving electronics hardware, sensors & sensing technologies, wired & wireless communication protocols, IOT & Cloud connectivity.
• Well verse with engineering cost out processes & tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
