Job summary

Tractebel is seeking a Manager/Senior Manager - HVDC to join its Transmission & Distribution team in India, based in Gurgaon on site. You will lead HVDC converter station engineering, drive feasibility through commissioning, and support international projects across markets.

The role requires a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory) with at least 6 years in EHV/ HVDC, plus 2 years hands-on HVDC experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory); postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in EHV AC transmission (345 kV and above) and/or HVDC projects (±320 kV and above).
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in engineering, commissioning, or O&M of HVDC converter stations.
• Strong understanding of HVDC system configurations, converter equipment, protection and control philosophies, and grid code compliance.
• Familiarity with LCC and/or VSC-based HVDC systems and IEC/IEEE/CIGRÉ standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review HVDC converter station engineering, covering transformers, valves, reactors, filters, DC switchyards, protection and control, SCADA, and auxiliary systems.
• Perform technical reviews of basic and detailed engineering documents for EHV AC (345 kV and above) and HVDC projects (±320 kV and above).
• Develop FEED documents and support feasibility studies for large-scale power transmission projects.
• Provide technical support during commissioning, including energization, trial operations, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
• Support O&M activities through reliability assessments, root cause analysis, and development of maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery and effective interface management.
• Act as a key technical interface with clients, utilities, OEMs, and regulatory authorities.

We are looking for a Manager / Senior Manager - HVDC to join our Transmission & Distribution team in India. In this role, you will drive the technical excellence of high-voltage direct current projects, from feasibility through commissioning. Your expertise will directly support the delivery of pioneering HVDC and EHV AC transmission systems across international markets.

What You'll Do
