AMERICAN EXPRESS seeks a Reporting Product Owner (Manager) to lead end-to-end automation of our regulatory reporting platform within the Regulatory Automation and Capability Modernization team.

You will coordinate with Technology, Data Architecture and Finance stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and you will monitor progress and resolve blockers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in regulatory reporting, finance, data or tech-enabled transformation.
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar in Agile/SAFe environments.
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Job description

We are seeking a Reporting Product Owner (Manager) to support the Regulatory Reporting automation program. This individual will be responsible for delivering end-to-end automation of our regulatory reporting platform.

The role is in the Regulatory Automation and Capability Modernization team, part of Corporate Controllership in Finance. The Finance Organization drives business value by being a strategic partner in every decision made in support of the Company s success. We bring a powerful combination of financial expertise, a deep understanding of complex analytics, a thorough knowledge of the risk environment, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity.

This individual will coordinate with several groups within American Express during the course of designing, implementing, and migrating the implemented solutions into production. The role will play a key role in translating business requirements into actionable features, supporting agile delivery, and ensuring alignment between business needs and technical implementation. Also, the individual would need to monitor project progress, solve issues that arise and write technical features and user stories partnering closely with Technology, Data, and Finance stakeholders.

This role will require strong collaboration with Technology to design how functionality will work validate at regular intervals that the software features developed align with original requirements provided to the team.

How will you make an impact in this role
  • Lead end-to-end execution of regulatory reporting automation initiatives, from feature definition through implementation and production readiness.
  • Own the product backlog and delivery roadmap, translating complex business and regulatory requirements into well-defined features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Drive solution design in partnership with Technology, Data Architecture, and Report Owners, ensuring solutions meet business, data, and regulatory reporting needs.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on regulatory commitments, business value, dependencies, risks, and overall program objectives.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams (technology, data architects, testing, Finance) driving alignment and resolving cross functional dependencies.
  • Monitor execution against milestones and deliverables, proactively identifying risks, issues, and blockers and driving them through resolution.
  • Support the testing lifecycle (UAT validation, defect resolution).
  • Engage business and technical stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle, incorporating feedback, clarifying requirements, and ensuring delivered capabilities meet intended outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation opportunities to reduce manual processes, strengthen controls, and improve the efficiency and scalability of regulatory reporting.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in regulatory reporting, finance, data, or technology-enabled transformation within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of liquidity regulatory reporting, particularly FR 2052a, including underlying data requirements, reporting processes, and associated controls.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting regulatory reporting transformation, data modernization, or automation initiatives.
  • Experience operating as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar delivery-focused role within Agile and/or SAFe environments.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business, regulatory, and data requirements into actionable features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively across business and technology teams in a delivery-focused role.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to additional US regulatory reports (Basel, FFIEC 009, Y15, etc.).
  • SQL or data analysis experience.
  • Exposure to AI capabilities in data processing, anomaly detection, or automation of workflows.
