Sovos, a global tax compliance leader, seeks a Development Manager (DevOps) in India with 8+ years of experience to architect scalable infrastructure and lead a small engineering team. You’ll drive automation, manage CI/CD via Azure DevOps, and ensure uptime across on-prem and cloud environments while mentoring and coordinating with stakeholders globally.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Standard hours aligned with US Business hours with additional On-call rotation availability to support production systems.
• Experience operating and maintaining on-premise datacenter infrastructure (physical or virtualized servers, OS, networking, middleware).
• Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/Docker Swarm, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Familiarity with Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Tempo, Mimir/Prometheus) and observability strategies.
• Experience authoring and managing Grafana alert rules, notification policies, and tuning for low noise in high-cardinality environments.
• Experience presenting technical content to non-technical stakeholders.
• Background check may be required upon hire.

The Work You'll Do:

As a Development Manager (DevOps), you'll be at the core of our cloud-native infrastructure, designing, scaling, and optimising the systems that keep our platform running seamlessly.

You’ll architect scalable solutions, drive automation, and serve as a technical liaison in strategic discussions while managing a small team of engineers. More specifically, you will:

Collaboration & Leadership

• Manage and mentor a team of engineers and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing
• Partner with Product Development teams to align DevOps practices with business goals
• Present technical strategies and updates to leadership
• Delegate work and coach your team to follow operational procedures and manage process, workflow, and architecture documentation

Infrastructure & Automation

• Design and implement scalable infrastructure in our Data Centers and in the Cloud using Terraform
• Manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for seamless deployments
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and alerting to drive operational efficiency

Operational Excellence

• Ensure high availability and performance of production systems
• Troubleshoot deployment issues and lead root cause analysis
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for configuration, release, and deployment processes

What We Need From You

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering
• Standard hours aligned with US Business hours with additional On-call rotation availability to support production systems
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining on-premise datacenter infrastructure (physical or virtualized servers, OS, networking, middleware) is required. The majority of platform operations are datacenter-based, with cloud serving a supporting role.
• Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/Docker Swarm, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline design
• Familiarity with the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Tempo, Mimir/Prometheus) and the role each plays in a unified observability strategy.
• Experience authoring and managing Grafana alert rules, contact points, and notification policies, including tuning for low noise in high-cardinality environments.
• Experience presenting technical content to non-technical stakeholders
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated environments (tax, finance, compliance)
• Familiarity with Sovos Trust Services or similar digital onboarding platforms
• Prior experience leading or mentoring DevOps teams
