Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Production Eng
  • Deputy Manager: 10-14 years in hydraulic/lubrication systems maintenance in Wire Rod Mill/Long Product/Integrated Steel Plant
  • Manager: 14-18 years relevant experience including team leadership, system upgrades, reliability projects

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of all hydraulic systems in the Wire Rod Mill.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability.
  • Monitor system pressures, oil flow, temperatures, and filtration to maintain optimal functioning and reliability of hydraulic circuits.
  • Diagnose and resolve hydraulic issues such as leaks, seal failures, pressure fluctuations, and actuator malfunctions with thorough root cause analysis.
  • Set and calibrate hydraulic control valves, proportional valves, and servo systems as per equipment specifications.
  • Plan and supervise overhauling, oil flushing, and commissioning of hydraulic and lubrication systems during shutdowns.
  • Manage centralized and individual lubrication systems across mill stands, gearboxes, and drives; monitor lubricant quality, temperature, and flow.
  • Implement oil sampling and analysis programs to monitor contamination, wear particles, and ensure optimum lubrication.
  • Ensure replenishment, filtration, and disposal of lubricants conform to safety and environmental norms.
  • Analyze system failures, prepare RCA reports, and implement reliability improvement initiatives (RBI, RCM, TPM).
  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for system upgrades, technical support, and reliability optimization projects.
  • Maintain documentation of system parameters, drawings, preventive maintenance checklists, and performance records.
  • Strictly enforce plant safety procedures, lockout-tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 compliance.
  • Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and skill enhancement programs for the maintenance team.
  • Manage workforce allocation; mentor engineers, supervisors, and technicians; promote teamwork and discipline.
  • Coordinate with operations, electrical, instrumentation, and utility teams for maintenance planning and critical spare parts management.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reliability and performance reports; participate in audits as required.

Preferred candidate profile
Education and Experience
  • Degree: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.
  • Experience:
